Okay fuel pumps should be fixed. One of the connectors on the ground wore of one of the pumps was partially broken. The wire inside the sending unit was too long and putting stress on the connector. I shortened the wire and put a new connector on it. I ran the pumps for a good five minutes without popping a 40amp fuse so all should be good.

Also today at work was slow so I decided I would start to polish the comp cover of the new turbo. I just got the preliminary removing of the roughness of the casting. I picked up a bunch of sand paper so I can continue sometime soon here.

Awesome glad the pumps turned out to being something simple.

Thanks! I still have a lot of work to do on the comp cover. This is the first one I've attempted to polish so we'll see how it turns out lol

Did you space the pumps just so they are still not so close and working against eachother?

Re: my new project

Yes I did put a spacer between the pumps as well while I had the sending unit out.

a Well it's been a pretty slow day at work so I've put some time in on the comp cover. I'm out of patience for today so I will continue more on it on another day. I will need to get my hands on a dremel or something similar to get into some of the hard areas that are hard to get to. This is the first time I've done something like this and it's cool to learn but in the future I'll probably just buy a polished comp cover if I want it polished lol

Assuming it's nice out next weekend I'll put some miles on her and start the engine break in.

As for what's left before it's ready for summer, the engine needs to be broken in, new fuel pumps(not sure what ones yet), swap the 6766 on, new intake pipe, and have my exhaust fitted to the 6766, and then a tune.

A little update on the comp cover. I'm overly fed up and impatient with this thing lol. It's officially turned into project good enough. Meaning I'm just going to get it good enough lol the main parts that will be visible will be done good. The rest of the pita areas I'm just getting good enough so I can start on it with a buffer. Not sure if you can tell a difference in the pics but it's getting there. I have at least 12 hours into this thing so far. I'm ready for it to be done lol

Re: my new project

When I did mine I started on a bench grinder with a wire wheel brush. I only had a few hrs into it but turned out good I thought. Didn't polish it with a buffer like I should have.

Re: my new project

That looks pretty good. I probably should have started on the wire wheel. I definitely have NOT been doing this the most efficient way. Most of mine has been done by hand with sandpaper. I'm on 1500 grit right now then going to 2000. We'll see how it looks after the 2000 grit

Re: my new project

Yeah I think I only went to 1500 and stopped. Almost there though

Re: my new project

That looks pretty good for only 1500! I'm going to go to 2k then buff the hell out of it lol

Alright I'm done with the comp cover. I just don't have the patience to deal with it anymore. Personally I think it kind of looks like crap. But it could be worse I guess ha. Maybe next winter if I'm feeling ambitious I'll resand it down and do a better job. Or I'll just buy a new comp cover lol

Thanks! You have to see it up close then you can see the areas I could have done better but this will work for now. I might try a little mothers aluminum polish to see if I can get it to shine a little better
