Re: My Winter Upgrades
Yeah I'll definately mention that to him. But so far, with the new 1.1 bar radiator cap, I haven't had any coolant issues. My 1.3 bar cap from MAP should be here shortly also, which should only help even more.
I just need to find a damn hand brake to bend up the sheet metal scoop for under the car!! |
Re: My Winter Upgrades
B man be careful with that higher pressure cap and your hoses. I would suggest taking some extra with you once you install that.
The higher pressure will seek out the crappy old hoses a lot faster. |
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Seek and.... seek and destroy!
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
I have new hoses.

Re: My Winter Upgrades
Looks good Brandon! I look forward to seeing your dyno charts.

Bought a new digital camera today! Mine has been dead for something like 2 years, and I've been borrowing my roommates ever since.
So, had to throw a little photo shoot to see how the new camera works, enjoy! |

Well I had an appointment to get it tuned this upcoming Thurs, but I can't make the appointment. Hoping to reschedule, just gotta see what Shane says.
Since I haven't heard anything yet though, I've decided to just take matters into my own hands. The motor has about 700miles on it now. I've upgraded the rad cap again to a 1.3 bar cap now. I've changed out all the break-in oil and am now running some 15-40. I decided to head out and do some pulls, and slowly upping the boost. I'm sitting at around 24psi right now. I've zero'd out all the timing sliders, and have been focusing on getting the AFR's as best I can. I'm aiming for about 11.6/11.7ish from full boost (~4800) to redline. It's getting a lot closer. I'm letting the car rest for a few. Then going to give the MBC a couple cranks and go out for some more fun! Here's a screen shot from my last log. I'd post up the log, but this site doesn't allow posting up .dat files ????? If anyone has any comments on the log, please share. I'm open for suggestions. |

Did some more pulls, and slowly upped the boost. I'm at around 30psi now. Car is definately feeling a lot stronger. The AFR curve isn't perfect, but not too bad. Stays in the mid/high 11's the entire time, and I'm happy with that. Did have a misfiring issue, but just cleaned up the plugs and gapped them down to .020, and the problem is gone.
Here's another snap shot of the log from my last pull of the night. There are a couple spots where there was a very small hint of knock. I'm still running BPR6ES plugs, and just picked up some 7's. I'm hoping the colder spark helps alleviate that knock. I stopped adding timing at 21 degrees. After the new plugs, it may take more, but I don't think I want to add any more timing, don't want too much cylinder pressure. So the plan is to just keep adding boost, probably up to around 35psi and stop there. |
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Looks pretty good. The boost estimate looks dead on the actual boost if you were verifying with your boost gauge as well. My estimate is always like 5psi off in link.
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Mine seems to be 1-2psi off. Good enough for me. Boost est was showing 29-30, but my gauge was showing 28-29.
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
I checked out your Log on the Link forum. It looks really good. around 1.5 second 70-90 time. I'd keep the timeing right about were you at if your going over 30 PSI. Mabey 19- 20 tops. Air fuel ratio looked really nice. I should have some logs to compair in the next few days.

Relax relax. Shane stayed well past closing for me last night and I just wanted to give him another big thank you. It was late, I was tired as hell, and my g/f had just arrived in town. Last thing I wanted to do was sit and scan in some charts when I could just do it in the morning.
Again, all I was looking for was to just break that 500hp mark, and I figured we were going to just barely break it. Well.... Dyno 1 was the boost level that I brought it to him at, and after he did a little bit of tweaking. (my baseline pull when I brought it in was around 480). Dyno 2 was what he was able to get out of it after we bumped the boost up. Again, huge thanks to Shane. I think he did a great job, really nice to deal with, happy to explain everything he was doing, happy to listen to what I had to say. Definately glad I chose him to do my tuning. |
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Daaaaayuuummm!! Nice power B! I hope you can just enjoy the car this summer, no issues hopefully! Congrats!!
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades

Re: My Winter Upgrades
Thanks dude. I had my camera there too. So maybe Saturday I can try and put that up on the PC and on YouTube.
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Very nice!
I would think you'd have no problem hitting a high 10 second slip this summer if the drivetrain holds up |
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Awesome numbers, great power band!
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Wow... Great numbers, congrats Brandon!!
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
It's just nice to be (for the most part) done with the thing. There really aren't any more power mods I want to do. It's right where I want it to be. Finally!! (well until something breaks of course)
I think we're lucky here to have such a good group of local shops. A large majority of everything done to my car was done using our local shops, and they've all been great. So just a big thanks to all the local shops (MAP, DB, Elite, LSE, Brookdale Mitsu, Jets Customs) for helping get me exactly where I wanted to be!! Now just gotta go hit the track and get booted :D |
Re: My Winter Upgrades
very nice numbers congrats on the power. Those are BIG numbers
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Awesome Brandon! That has got to be a very fun ride.
Those numbers are what I was hoping for from your car, that give's me hope to be in a similar range(shooting for the same you were.. breaking 500awhp on Shane's dyno). |
