Yay for everyones rates increasing dramatically?

I know my company said they had a rate increase of 50% and that was the lowest quote they could find. My gf now has to pay A LOT more at her job as well for it and she makes less than 30k a year.

I fail to see how this is a good thing? Seems basically like a giant tax increase for all those with jobs to pay for those who have none...basically everything we didn't want.

Re: March for health care!

Supreme Court said it was a tax after we were all told it wouldn't be.

Also, I hear a lot of Minnesota people are getting their insurance plans cancelled because they don't meet "guidelines" anymore? This is after Obama stated that "if you like your current insurance plan, you can keep it PERIOD".

Great stuff, love it...

I don't think there is any other way to say it except this..."He lied through his teeth"

Can't afford health insurance? Perfect, pay this fine. It really is quite ridiculous; making the poor poorer. The ones who really are hurt by this are the people who are actually trying to make a living and support a family.

Our insurance (family plan) through my wife's work went from $630 a month to $1150. My fathers plan has been canceled due to not meeting guidelines.

We are now on my union's health plan because the union gets 1 more year before price gouging kicks in (most likely due to the unions being a bunch of (D) boot lickers)

Affordable my ass!

^Same here. Thank god AFSCME ratified a 2 year contract right before this shit kicked in. We aren't effected yet.

Same with the cops in my city...1 more year, then, for example, this one officer is facing a 500% premium increase! How exactly is 5x the price "affordable" for anyone?

I'd bet he has nothing to say since it turned out to not be magical free/cheap health care.
He might pop in to say it was all Romney's plan/fault though

I'm sure it was Bush's fault.

I guess my company signed a multi year agreement, my rates didn't go up, unless my company bit the bullet on the rate hike.

Re: March for health care!

A buddy and I were discussing this earlier. I told him that the fine can be up to 4500 a year if you go uninsured. He lol'd and told me I watch too much Faux news.

He then proceeded to "school me" by looking it up on the official .gov site. Turns out it will be 4800 a year fine but not until 2015.

He said he wasn't worried because he'd just sign up for a catastrophic plan to avoid the fine. Did a little digging, turns out that catastrophic plans don't qualify and you'll still get the fine.

...and OWNED!

It seems like a lot of companies are eating the hit this first year, but intend to pass more of it on the following years.

I need to see about our rates. Although it wont be apples to apples because we are changing insurance providers this year, but still need to check it out.
