I think I'm still sold on one of the last two Sundays in August. Either the 22nd or 29th. I'm wondering if Mitsu nuts that go up to the Pro Rally on Friday and Saturday will want to get there butts back to the Twin Cities by 11am Sunday to go to the All Mitsu Cookout??

I can say no, we won't. Because the rally doesn't end until the late, late, late Saturday/Sunday morning. So you'd be better off having it the weekend of Autovations then.

I would think the 29th would be better. I bet more people will be going to autovations than to the prorally. I know the 1g's are into rally more than probably anyone else going to the cookout, so you are hearing from all of them. A lot of the true show cars are going to be more interested in going to the autovatoins show rather than the rally. You have to go with the greater good!

I like CVD's idea of a poll too. You could run it on a few different boards.

It also gives us DSM'rs a week to fix our cars after we break them at the shootout!

But Autovations is local. People can go to Autovations and then to the cookout with ease.

I think that the 29th would probably be best. Should still be nice weather then.

Hey everyone,

Thank you all for giving me some feedback. Unfortunatly, I still haven't decided on a date yet. I am leaning slightly towards having it on August 22nd, the day after Autovations.

For those planning on putting there cars in the Autovations show, would you also get up the next day and get over to the All Mitsu Cookout that starts at 11am??

Some of you know the tradition and history of the All Mitsu Cookout. It basiclly was the beginning of MN-DSM back in 1999. I put a lot of effort into every year to ensure that it grows and that it is the best bang for your buck. I was very happy last year when we broke the 100 car mark even though the Pro Rally and Autovations was going on.

The Autovations show popped up after I started my planning for the Cookout last year. And to be honest, it got under my skin. I was also bothered when I saw some of my own MN 3/S members and some DSMers choosing the Autovations over the one event that brings together the Mitsu ethusiasts for the last four years. Thats why I'd really like to know if some of you Mitsu owners who are planning on going to Autovations would also go to the Cookout the next day?

Thanks again,
Curt

Personally I would. I'm supposed to be in Autovations this year, but I'd still wake my ass up to make it to this. I missed it last year and was a little pissed about it. So I'll be there.

CVD 01-12-2004 05:03 PM

What the hell is autovations? Of course I will be at the cookout :P

1badgsx 01-12-2004 08:47 PM

How about the end of July?

FattyBoomBatty 01-12-2004 09:11 PM

I'll be there, try to find a place with a big open parking lot area for doing mad burnouts and shitties. i'm all about driftoing it up. or just whipping shitties.

woot

CVD 01-12-2004 09:39 PM

I think that will be frowned upon at this event.

FattyBoomBatty 01-12-2004 09:46 PM

that's just too damn bad ;)

no, i will be nice if they want me too.

Thats exactly what I wanted to hear! Thanks! I'm leaning more towards the August 22nd date now. I think if your a Mitsu enthusiast, you'll come to the Cookout if even your up the night before at another car show.

There will be no burnouts at the Cookout. The car museum would frown on that a little and so would I. But I can give you directions to some empty parking lots where you could do some burnouts ;)

My July is already booked up with car stuff and personal stuff. Its going to be a busy summer.

Thanks for all of the feedback. If you have anymore comments about the pros and cons of having the Cookout on August 22nd versuses the 29th, lets hear them.

Curt

Burnout = Industrial building on oppisite side of the lawn. If I am at the event and some moron does a burnout and I catch him I will personally slash some fucking tires.

The only other thing I want to add:

If you are a judge, your car should not be entered for the "show" aspect. I think that looked really bad last year.

But that's my .02

The All Mitsu Cookout is done by participant voting. No judges. I bet you are thinking about the old Volksport show from 2002. That judging was dumb.

Curt

Oh, yeah....nevermind. *dumb me* My mind is just absent sometimes. lol
