But they put a LS6/LS7? in a 3rd Gen RX7....adding a total of 67Lbs or something like that. 350 HP vs. the stock >200 is a great deal if its that light! I would put a turbo LS in my car, but there is no room, on the starion there might be tho..... |

Yeah its the cam journals. When I got the car the guys said the head just needs some work, and I towed it away on that premise. When I took it apart, I realised he was clueless. I really wanted to finish and drive this car because I've always liked them, but I have too many cars and too many projects. |

Yeah, it'd be completely in front of the firewall, the weight ratio F-R would be kinda messed up, but if you're making 500 horsepower on 89 octane it wouldn't be a problem.
Who doesn't love a big stupid v8? Remember, 'There's no replacement for displacement - except electricity!' |

They probably just milled the heads down a bit for that C5-R one.

I was kinda joking. But if all they changed was induction, then that's really not much difference. Anyway, back on topic here - I'll tell you guys how much power a HyperU on stock everything else handles big boo-oost! (when i get that far)

Re: 4G63 in a Conquest/Starion
No, they are definately not the same block. The C5R block is based on the LS1, the LS7 is very different. The LS7 is a bit more advanced, but the C5R uses better materials (and is $5k for a bare block). Doug Rippie Motorsports builds some sweet 'vettes. I have seen the C5R blocks down there in cars and in buildup.

Re: 4G63 in a Conquest/Starion
Putting an LS1 in a Conquest would probably ~save~ you weight over the front wheels. They only weigh like 475 lbs dressed. That SCC article got me thinking even more of something cool to put one in.

That's what I'm saying man. Dropping the cradle to swap the engine (on f-body) vs pulling it from the top (with a swapped quest). I'm a GM Tech, I know the F-body good enough... |
Re: 4G63 in a Conquest/Starion
My point is this: The Conquest is a sweet little import, don't take that away from it by putting a LS mototr in it. If you want a Camaro, go get one. America can't make anything as sweet as the FD3S, that's not Mazda's fault. Don't punish an FD3S by putting a POS V8 in it. I think it's funny that the hicks are just now finding out that Amercan cars suck...but they can't get over that flat and gay sound the V8 makes. Yeah, an RX7 with a LS will destroy anything that came with LS. But it will also do that with the Triangle-filled Death Factory that powered it when it was bought. Fuck SCC. The Conquest is the shit without pushrods, thanks.
