If you can get a really good deal like Jet, the LS might not be bad. But comparably in that price range, it'd be far from my first choice.

Test out a Volvo S60 T5 AWD, that would be my first choice hands down.

It does seem like a decent car. I Found one for less than 15k w/ 50k miles on it. Not a bad deal but I don't know anything about volvo ;) Are they expensive to fix? I'm sure getting an AWD turbo again but newer.. insurance would love me.

So they are about as IFFY as a lincoln LS being ford and all? I have never been a ford fan.

I found 2 more possible cars. One is not hard to find, the other is.

newer model pontiac bonneville super charged or w/e. Haven't looked into it yet.

2nd is a 2003 honda Accord. The difference between this beast and other hondas is this one is a 3.0 iVtech 6 speed manual coupe. That model is very hard to find for the price im looking for. But it is rated at 25/30 MPG and has 240 hp which is not bad at all ;)

I get at least 29mpg on the highway with my '01 GTP and have done as well as 34mpg. My car is 100% stock so I'd be curious to see what kind of milage CRAIG gets with his modified GTP.

That I do not know. I know that there are common parts on the supercharged Regal GS as well.

The LS is in a whole different class than a GTP or bonneville. They are good cars, just very different. My girlfriend has a 99 GTP and she won't even drive it anymore since driving the Lincoln.

I agree. I would take an LS over a Bonneville/Grand Prix/Regal without question.

My friend has a '06 V6 6-speed and its a really nice car, decently quick, comfortable, and great interior layout/design. I'm not sure how it compares to the '03, but Accords always seem to be class-leading. Volvo makes some pretty good cars, so like Steve said, it would be worth a look.

If those four were the only choices I'd take the LS too, but I'd take either the Accord or Volvo over the LS.

The Accord just seems bland to me, but I'd be interested in the Volvo, as well as the Audi equivelant.

With the 18" rims and 245/45/18 tires I was getting about 21mpg on average. With the stock rims I have gotten 34mpg on the highway at 65mph and average about 28mpg with the stock rims.

The mods I have done do not hurt gas mileage unless you are boosting it, the exhaust and the intake probably help out a bit. But again thats if you are being nice to it. Either way it gets good mileage for being a huge boat.

Yes I realize that the pontiacs are not up to "par" with the LS. However if I can't find one for a respectable price / what I'm looking for through a dealer, I may have to resort to something else. I want to go through a dealer to get a warrantee extended to as close to 100k miles as possible because all of my spair cash will be going towards the new car payment. I don't want to hastle with repairs out of my wallet.

You can buy an extended warranty no matter where you get your car from. Have you talked to Steve? He may be able to find what you are looking for in your price range.

Well say I bought my LS from Ford. They would not only get my car fixed for free, but they would give me a loaner car at no cost. IDK I guess I've never sat down with an unbiased person and figured out everything.

There are no differences between the extended warranties you buy from Ford or any other aftermarket company (non brand name ones are about 1/2 the price and a lot of times offer better coverage). You can still get the car fixed at the dealership (or any other shop) so you'll still get a loaner car. Keep in mind though, these extended warranties are NOT the same thing as a factory warranty with no laws protecting the consumer and any tiny little mod can and probably will void them entirely. If you can't afford to set aside money for repairs in the future while also making car payments then maybe you should look at something a little more in your price-range. Also, don't forget to check out insurance rates.

I could probably afford to fix the car if I set aside money for the specific purpose but I'd rather not. That's why I want a warantee. I don't plan to mod this car at all. It's a lincoln for christ sakes ;) Insurance is not a problem. This is "daddies car" :) 100 / month give or take a few bucks for full coverage.

And Lincoln isn't? Show me a Ford part on an S60. Or better yet, drive the two back to back, you'll see what I mean. Just because they own Volvo doesn't mean Volvos are now Fords.

Yea ford uses volvos parts.. not the other way around. S60 FTW, it is a little smaller than an LS though.
