AWD and 4WD denotes nothing more than front and rear axles are both driven, or are capable of being driven? they say nothing of the actual differentials being open or limited slip/locking.

4WD and AWD are different, sorta. The WRX, STi, Evo, and TT are AWD. I don't know if I would consider the Skyline AWD, because it can go completely RWD, sending 100% of the tq. to the rear wheels. Then it wouldn't be AWD, but more so 4WD because it can vary. I am not sure if my categorization is correct though. Just my opinion.

I know I irritate you, or used to when I was more interested in "rules." But I dont really care about rules anymore so its all good, because no one follows them.

the GTR is not 4wd, 4wd is for trucks with LOCKING DIFFS. the skyline has the nissan ATESSA torque biasing system. you can pull a fuse for the r34 and disable the entire front diff making the car entirely rwd. 4wd means all 4 wheels have equal power going to them at all times. which is usually why trucks have a botton you have to push to lock the diffs. because if you drive around in 4wd mode all the time you'd notice how the car/trucks likes to hop in sharp turns or just going around corners because the outside wheel wants to turn faster than the inside one.

Then you should tell every other magazine that states they are 4WD that.
