I wouldn't mind the lag at all, if It would rev. That's just it. I really dunno what to do. Stroker motor, downgrade the turbo. But, even if I do that, I'd still want it to rev. IF it was valvetrain, we all would think that it would not wanna rev consistantly. But, it CONSISTANTLY stops at fricken 7950ish, and then the fuel keeps going, dumping it all in, backfiring, and sounds like a fricken subaru! ARG!

To me it sounds like a spark issue. But what do I know. lol

Get a smaller turbo for sure. Make awesome power from 4500-8 and be happy. Who cares if you cant get that extra 500 rpm?

I've tried John's AEM EMS, I've tried different maps, I've tried brand new coils, eliminating the MSD, AND going back to a stock ignition, ALL TO NO AVAIL! I DO NOT KNOW what the F is wrong with this damn car, but the money i've spent in chasing this F-in issue is beyond redonculous.

The problem is you have systematically elimated problems and once you've checked it off you haven't went back and rechecked it.

The cam degreeing was off, was it hurting power? Who knows, compare the poweband charts I guess.

The inproper grounding was bad for the car. Was it the only problem? Obviously not...but I guarantee the car needs its grounds.

If the wiring was the problem the entire time it could of masked a bad cop setup as well. Were the ignition coils you swapped in good? I know the map and aems have been swapped also. I know that one time we found 1 coil not making contact all the way with the plug when street tuning.
Have the ignition signal wires been traced from the AEM to the msd? How about to the coils?

The engine is in 100% perfect health? Then it is a wiring or electrical (ignition) issue.

Just out of curiosity, what plugs and gap are you running? We ran into some miss-firing on my car also. I was running stock BPR6's gapped at .020. Swapped in some 7's gapped at .020 and the issue was gone.

Another dumb question, but if you turn the boost to the minimum you can run, do you still have miss-firing issues at higher RPM's? As I'm sure you're well aware of, the more boost you run, the more your chances of running into spark related issues.

Great numbers though. I think you have a TON of more power in that thing if you can get it all worked out. Like brownman said, 500 on DB's dyno is nothing to laugh at. We all know that, no need to tell us what it'd make on a DynoJet. I'm sure you'd walk me, considering I have hardly any weight reduction done.

What tires are you running btw? I haven't gotten squirrelly in 3rd yet, just 1st and 2nd. I'm on some 235/45/17 HTRZ3's, and they seem to be gripping quite well.

Car hits a brick wall at any boost. It did the same at 20psi when I was messing with it last fall.

Thanks guys for your input. I wanna say again it's no fault of anyone here, or am I blaming everyone..I'm just disappointed in power vs/ boost, and the revving issues.

Brandon, we swapped my plugs once they got bad on the dyno, with new ones..bpr7es, gapped to I BELIEVE .020? (shane?)
Boost at a minimum still won't allow it to rev past that 7950..it hits a wall, sounds/feels like it's a hard, rather rapid 2-step cut, and falls on it's face. Gas planted to the floor, it WILL NOT rev past. But, free-reving, it will all the way. Yes, we checked and double checked all rev limiters, and the ignition setup, like hte MSD box and such.

Tires are def. an issue..3rd..and If I remember right 4th too last night(cooler out?). They are Riken raptor ZR's..225/50/16. The rims are 16x8 I'm pretty sure (maybe 16x 8.5) and I wanna go to a wider tire setup..perhaps something in a 245/255 variant.

Brandon and you are making me jealous. Can't wait to get me car on the dyno again. This time with E-85 instead of pump.

Pretty sure he'd wax my ass, so it's not even funny. brandon has that thing called "awesome poewrband..with power!" not only does he make more, but he makes more, with more to use.

If free revving works....what if you back off to like 80% throttle @ 8k....?

Re: Will my fricken' luck ever change?

still hits wall..any kinda load it hates life.

And, hooters MAYBE. But, I assure you..you'll win. You get better traction, more power, powerband, and my car is hitting some fuel issues up higher rpms', say if I start out at 40 in 2nd or 3rd.. it doesn't like WOT..then clears, then goes..then hits the rev limiter shane set.

You should have never changed your exhaust housingnto that .82?? I still have that .68 at exhaust housing on my ride. It spools very quick for a bigger turbo and makes great power. I vote to go back to the .68ar housing. :-)

Re: Will my fricken' luck ever change?

I have a divided .70 housing, with the divided manifold. Before it was an undivided .58.
