Re: Hawver Intake Manifold
I think it looks pretty good, almost 'stockish' looking. :)

Re: Hawver Intake Manifold
Hmm, if my Magnus ever cracks I'll have to look into one of these.

every pound counts when you want to go fast If it didn't super cars wouldn't have exotic light wieght metals used in thier construction. Racecars wouldn't have carbon fiber and aluminum seats or plastic windows. Removing wieght is the #1 way to make your car faster, handle better, and stop quicker. |

Not to mention I'm sure your JMF intake is a lot more expensive than this cast mani... |
Re: Hawver Intake Manifold
Nope, this one is $550, the JMF is $590. JMF is 7.5 lbs, this one probably isn't much over 10.
Anyway, I like the cast look, more sleeper than a shiny SMIM, would look good in flat black. |

If having a light car is so important to you, why start with such a heavy ass car, get a Honduh instead. |
Re: Hawver Intake Manifold
How about you guys stop "fighting" over an intake manifold.
|
Re: Hawver Intake Manifold
if you shed 5 pounds in a car that runs a flat 13 second 1/4 that weighs 3000 pounds
you should be able to run 12.999792 an improvment of .000208 just throwing that out there, all theoretical of course |
Re: Hawver Intake Manifold
Quite an impressive gain; that is, if they timed it to at least the 4th decimal place.
|
Re: Hawver Intake Manifold
That's the difference between running a 13 and a 12 though :D

I never said JMF was better. Just added that the cast manifold would be heavier. Then you got butthurt, then I got butthurt  I'm a freak when it comes to lowering the wieght of my cars. A little here and there adds up fast. |
Re: Hawver Intake Manifold
power to weight ratio, really, 5 pounds, you talking a difference of .01 change in ratio. .02 if your only running 300 hp. also assuming 3000 pound car.
i think the added reliability for 5 pounds would be worth it, even more for those running n2o plus the chances of it getting damaged would be for less for a cast unit |

Like I also said earlier, wieght ads up. 5lbs here 10 lbs there. Less work for your engine to accellerate, also less stress on your drivetrain. Less work for your brakes to stop you too. I am in no way trying to steer anybody away from running a cast mani. With a direct port setup you'd be less likely to kill an intake plenum with a N2O backfire anyways :D |
Re: Hawver Intake Manifold
Dsm's never have nitrous back fires.
The thing is kinda ugly and it'd be cool to see a comparison between this and a jmf |
