Re: What made you sell/partout your DSM?
I sold my Laser cause i thought there was no way I could manage 2 car seats in it. But i was proven wrong. And i always wanted to get an AWD car. Winters get nasty here, as i am sure they do over in MN, but here they suck ass at taking care of the roads.
I dont mind having an older car. I grew up that way. All through highschool and for years after I drove 1975 Plymouth Fury. Than i had a 75 Power wagon and 75 duster. So I am used to having old cars. I kinda have a soft spot for them. |

Q: What made you sell/part out your DSM?
A: Wisdom I bought the 93 awd in early 2001 to get in the "game". Raced it all summer (mostly stock) and a rod bearing let go in the fall. After a few others cars, I bought a 90 awd to drive around while I was building up the 93. Never got the 93 together for more than a few days, sold it to Matt D. Bought the Stealth, sold the 90 awd to Nash. Bought a 91 awd auto to drive when the stealth was being built. Drove that into the ground, awesome fun car for a daily beater. Made 700+ to the wheels in the stealth, broke a lot of shit, and probably should have been arrested more than once. Closed the shop, sold the stealth. Now I drive a pick-up and couldn't be happier. |
Re: What made you sell/partout your DSM?
^Just to think that auto would of went faster.

Or are you talking about putting an auto in the transmission eating stealth? That would have been chaos. |
Re: What made you sell/partout your DSM?
^Both, English racing went 10s on a 16G and stock auto trans.
And a auto in the stealth would of been amazing. |
Re: What made you sell/partout your DSM?
I parted because of worthless piece of shit thieves

Re: What made you sell/partout your DSM?
I was just sick of shit breaking all the time. I had already made 512 on DB's dyno and had gotten far enough with the car. Had my fill of it. At the end I burned out two Fuelab pumps and made it a total of a block on both.
I got incredibly sick of working on cars. Traded it for a bike and cash. Then I drove a mildly quick car and got right back into racing (DOH!) |

Re: What made you sell/partout your DSM?
My last DSM I owned was my 98 GSX and a few weeks before having LSE do an engine build a bitch pulled out in front of me destroying it. I loved that car :( I guess I also had a laser RS turbo after that, I drove a few times before selling it too, but I got that car for $300 and didn't really do much with it.

Re: What made you sell/partout your DSM?
Id say wisdom like someone else said. Never been back to the mitsu game and couldnt be happier with my slow nazimobiles.
Got my 1g at the age of 16, rebuilt the engine, tranny, exterior, everything. Was a fun project while I was a kid, but 5 years later i just wanted out. Too much headache. Got a 95 M3, loved that car to death, and want another. Miles and rust started accumulating underneath and I wanted something newer. Thus the owdee. So many times have I thought about evos, especially after each cruise, but then I see how they are just newer dsms and say nope. |

Re: What made you sell/partout your DSM?
Bought my 93 awd Talon from my mother (original owner that daily drove it for 8 years and misses it everyday since she sold it to me) and tried out a bit of drag racing. Had some fun in the stock setup and came out with a few trophies. Got into rallycrossing and had a blast! After a while it got a little old and I wanted a bit more of a challenging drivetrain setup. Sold it 5 years after I bought for $200 less than what I paid for it and turned over rallycross duties to my CRX. FWD was fun for a while, but it just wasn't what I wanted. Then got the bright idea to go to an MR setup (mid engine-rwd). Bought an old MR2 and absolutely love it for dirt racing. So much more smiles-per-run than the talon or CRX ever was.
Sadly now I'm looking at parting ways with the MR2 also for family reasons (little one coming in January). When I get back into dirt racing though, it will be a mid-engine/rear drivetrain that I pick. |

Re: What made you sell/partout your DSM?
I didn't expect to spark such a great discussion. When I sold my talon and picked up an M3, I had a few thoughts about it afterward. I watched some of the videos of my launches, 1/4 mile passes and so on. It brought back some memories, and always does.
I've had the talon for 3 years and it went from completely stock form to a high 11sec 1/4 mile car with just a 16g and ethanol on stock block. I wasn't entirely sure how much longer I had left in my block after countless pulls while tuning, lots of 1/4 mile passes and a lot of more or less aggressive street driving. I suppose that in my case, I wanted more refinement, luxury, nice and smooth quiet ride, superior handling, instant torque, and German build quality along few other factors. That is the reason why I chose e36 M3. Sometimes I miss the rush of 400whp.. My bimmer only has 240 to the crank, but the power delivery is so smooth and undramatic that even that power is very satisfactory. I am able to take corners in such a way that I was not even aware possible before. It is really an incredible driving machine. |
