Re: JM Fabrications
If you wait a bit I should have an intake manifold on the market in 2 months or so. I am buying a TIG with my tax return and I have access to a couple of machine shops for the press bends and CNC'd flanges. My design is similar to a BJ's, but with a few changes.

Re: JM Fabrications
Ya like I said, I'm keeping my options pretty open for now. Trying to look at everything there is. It'd be after I got home from Japan when I'd be looking at this. So maybe you'll have a design by then that I can see. When I get is pretty much dependant on the kind of job I get once I'm home and out of the Marines. But I'll keep you in mind, just like I am everyone else!

Re: JM Fabrications
Everything seems to be going up. Mangus 2g manifold are now $715.00. I think that's crazy high but if people are paying it, then why wouldn't you raise your price. Just like ebay raised their prices, because they can.
Like other people on here, i'm also making one. We actually have a CNC machine but i'm gonna buy the first flange so i don't have to put a ton of hours into R&D. I found a place that sells flanges very reasonable. Then i can write a CAD program to CNC the flanges. Everything will be machined in-house to keep the cost down. I'm not gonna spend a ton of hours designing and testing my work though trying to make a new design. I'm just reverse engineering a very popular well known SMIM. I copied all the specs from a guy that has the original. I figure all i have to do is change a thing or two and, "It's mine". Once i get the flange from the guy, i'll be on my way. I'd be willing to sell these but it won't be anywhere near the $700 range. |
Re: JM Fabrications
I had the same old school Magnus intake as Shane. Although i never rev'd mine past 8k it was still making power there. The magnus aslo has such a nice broad torque curve as well, just flat and solid, not peaky like other.
I still think the FRH intake SUCKS!! From the 2 vehicles we have tested it on, its a very peaky intake and refuses to make hp or trq on the top end. On 2 vehicles we tested both on SC61's one w/ 272/272 and a Magnus the other w/ 264/264 and FRH there was a 115whp difference. Both on the same boost levels and both on stock motors/heads. Both vehicles we're dyno'd w/in 2 hours of each other as well in our own shop tuned by us. You tell me!! If anyones looking for a Magnus before the price increase sets in on my next order i have 2 left. Nick SLS |
Re: JM Fabrications
How bout you sell the old school one for 100 and 6-pack of corona!!

Is it just me or do we have a PM feature for nothing?

Sorry to bring an old thread back from the dead, but I just did my first transaction with this place. I didn't get an intake manifold from them yet, just got a heatshield to cover my old ugly 2g manifold. Transaction went smooth as possible, and the packaged even arrived a day early, packaging was top notch. As always with polished items, this picture doesn't do it justice at all. The thing is awesome, and the metal is actually much thicker then I was expecting. I was expecting some thin cheap sheet metal, but this stuff is thick and sturdy. Depending on what all happens over the winter, I may be in the market for an intake manifold still, and after seeing how much time and effort was put into this simple heatshield, I will definately be keeping an eye on this intake mani. There are a couple others I'm still looking into, but after seeing this piece, I feel plenty comfortable going with this guys manifold!

That looks really nice :D

Re: JM Fabrications
Nice!

Re: JM Fabrications
nice heatshield, but not one of his roll cages appear legal.

Re: JM Fabrications
I like his stuff. I'd get his intake manifold when the time comes. Looks simple, it's cheap and is quality.

just punched the hole for the EGT probe, and installed it on the car about 30 minutes ago. I'm very happy with it!

That looks sweet!!! :D

Re: JM Fabrications
I may be way off base here, but looking at the intake manifold he has on the site for the 1g, I noticed the runners protrude about a 1/4" into the plenum. This may be ignorance, but wouldn't that disrupt airflow? Especially at higher RPM's. Please correct me if I'm wrong. It just seems that you would want something smoother, wouldn't you? It looks like it would trap some amount of air going in causing turbulance in the air that does make it down the runners.
Obviously I am not the smartest when it come to manifolds, that's why I'm asking this. To see what the experts think. |
Re: JM Fabrications
The answer is yes and no. Normally a runner like that should be flush on bottom of the plenum. He did his like the runners that have a radius around the opening, unlike the flat lip his have. It actually helps with the rounded lip, but I doubt it does on his.
