Was that your daily driver too? All the abuse on the dyno plus DD I knew it would only take some time but I never thought it would last this long!

The motor in the car is the one that came with the car when I bought it from Patrick. And the car is my DD, or kind of I guess. I hadn't been driving it all that much since Jet was letting me use the Nissan. I already have a 2.4 block it's sitting up at QPR. Now I just need to save some money so I can get everything else.

Well sorry to see it go. But hey at least it held the record for most HP out of a Stock 1G motor before her day was up.

2.4 - I'd call you a cheater but I know it's not. It doesn't matter do what you like.

From Nashes own mouth "a 2.4 makes the car no longer considered a DSM" your fired. LOL
Sorry to hear about the car, but at least you have your health. :)

bummer, but I figured it was coming. I expected it on that one dyno day, but fatigue does take time.

Then I guess for the 1st time in almost 7 years I won't own a DSM.

A little JB Weld and that rod can be saved.

Re: After all the abuse...

That reminds me of when me and Mike Bertz were heading back from Slippery Falls after his repeated 30psi runs on pump gas and a stock 7-bolt. About 20 miles out of RF, I saw smoke in my rearview and him pulling over. We popped the hood and there was oil everywhere, smoke and a little wisp of a flame from the huge hole in the rear of the block just like Nash's. Doh, that sucks, but like every part failure, it's just time to upgrade the part. Now let's hope we don't get the rash of cracked cylinder walls that are plagueing more and more DSM'rs around the country with 2.4 blocks.

Was Hess' a 2.0 or 2.4?

I wonder if cryo treating blocks would made a significant difference with the cracking issues.

I will have to let Patrick know what finally happened to his block. I am sure he will be happy to hear how long it held up actually. Shindley would be happy. LOL.

He was always happy you got his car Nash. He wanted someone who would actually make power in it to have it.

Highly doubt it. It doesn't take much for cast metal that thin to be punctured considering what hits it when a rod lets go.

I believe he is referring to the cylinders cracking under load and power, not rods beating the shit out of it...
;).

Oh yeah, and I'm going to have Jet weld up the hole in block. Be just as good as new.
