Re: Fastest Street Car On Style
Good article on the subject at hand (even if it's on Fords):
"What defines a street car? Everyone seems to have their own opinion--to some it's a Pro Mod car with mufflers; to others, it's gotta-have A/C and can sit in traffic without incident. For us, the MM&FF True Street Challenge differentiates the real road warriors from the race car wannabees. This class requires you to cruise your registered and insured Ford on the street and then make three consecutive strip passes--no cooldown, no opening your hood to make repairs, no refueling." Re: Fastest Street Car On Style
I don't see why Swanny's car isn't a street car. It could use exhaust silencer, but it's pretty streetable. Okay, the shotgun seat is the suck too...but that's it.
|
Re: Fastest Street Car On Style
I would say, a street car should be able to drive to the track on its own 4 wheels and be ready to race. That should be the definition of a street car.
You cant say the car has to be street legal because then you would have to take into effect all of the laws governing cars in the whole whats legal, whats not. I.E tint, tires, exhaust noise, emissions (lucky ass minnesotans), as well as anything else that may be considered illegal by da po pos . |
Re: Fastest Street Car On Style
Chris's car has crossed over the line for street car. I can't see many people climbing into that thing. Swanny's car on the other hand, has a interior, and 2 seats, for a passenger. Some cars don't come from the factory with PS or a/c. Does that make them a non-street car? I took my ps/ac bumper supports, carpet, rear bench, and some other stuff out. But, i still tote around passengers, and other broke-ass dsm'ers. That doesn't mean my car is not a street car. I just have less commodities then the next guy.

Re: Fastest Street Car On Style
Didn't we already go through the whole street car vs. non-street car thing? Where is the drama in that?!? Lets get back to the previous topic :D

Re: Fastest Street Car On Style
Swannys car is a sweet and makes tons of power, probably will be one of the fastest 3S in the country which is a feat in itself. Chris has a long way to go to climb to the top of the DSM rankings. Both cars are way fast, and actually I wasn't trying to start drama. Look at my first post.
I was just wondering who is the big dog on DSMSTYE, and that I heard a few of them got it on the other night. I was hoping some others with some fast rides would chime in as well. Its all in fun. And like I said, its better than talking about movies and grilling in my opinion. If we can't talk about cars and racing, why don't we get sponsored from the Food Channel and Netflix. |
Re: Fastest Street Car On Style
They were very close. But they weren't really racing. There was no way to "flag" or start the race and once one car got on it, it's bus lenghts in seconds. So without a way to flag, it was just some good old fashioned fun.

Re: Fastest Street Car On Style
I say a street car is a car that is running on 93 octane, something that you could drive everyday and fill up at any gas station with any premium fuel!!! What now suckas, how much horsepower can you get out of your cars on 93 octane???
|
Re: Fastest Street Car On Style
Approximately 263.2 on a dyno dynamics
|
Re: Fastest Street Car On Style
Probably still more than you.

Re: Fastest Street Car On Style
Well, my car should be running by this weekend. Swifty, head to Tristate with us on the 12th. We'll teach some muscle car guys what's up!

Re: Fastest Street Car On Style
Damn! I am going to the shootout though. And, as of yet, my car isn't tuned. But, once i get the oil filter situation figured out, the tuning will shortly follow, assuming there are no more stupid things that pop up.

Re: Fastest Street Car On Style
535.5awhp on 93 octane, 500ish at the track.
Well my shifter cables will be the death of me. I am wasting .2 tenths of a second grabbing 3rd (.2 1-2 shifts always, .4-1.0 3rd gear shifts) and best pass was a 11.540@131.56 with a 1.849 60' I gained 38.3mph on that pass between the 1/8 and the 1/4...and it still took 1.5 seconds according to the aem log to respool ;). I raced chris as well, 11.846@125.47 I had him the entire way..I think he lifted around the 1000'. I need to do 2 things. 1)Get my nitrous hooked up to keep the intercoolers cold, I was running 27.5-28psi MAX, 28 against carey. 2)Get in gear. I am wasting precious time not in gear. The difference between total time in/out of gear between my 11.5 and my 11.8 pass? .1 seconds. This isn't factory the fact that I am dropping down to 7psi in 3rd due to the long/shitty shift. I need to get the new shifter cables in and the nitrous to cool down the intake temps, then she'll be flying. Oh, and ask anyone at the track, I was spinning the first 100' easy. |
Re: Fastest Street Car On Style
Maybe one of your next mods should be slicks.
|
Re: Fastest Street Car On Style
I hopped into Chris's car for a few runs so see if i could shift it any better. And yes I did but I botched the launch and still made it to a 12.xx@131.9. the car never made it into the 11's today. We have a few minor issues to work out with it in the next few days and we are planning on having it out this weekend if all goes well.

If jake montgomery can run 10's on street tires and heavy ass wheels, then swanny can do it with street tires and light wheels.
kevin, are you not going to the shootout then? -A. Swift |

So shane remains the King of style...
Great runs guys, 11s are a great start. |
Re: Fastest Street Car On Style
I make 172hp on a DD dyno on 92 octane, what can i play with?
IMO both Chris's and Josh's cars are awesome, but Josh's car has everything a reg. 3/S would have, but a cage and a racing seat w/harness. Chris's car has 2 seats, and a gauge cluster, you can see into the car from the engine bay. Both cars are sweet, but i think it is easy which one is a street car and which one is a "race" car. This is my Opinion, so don't hate. Also both cars rip like crazy!! Would definitely been a close/good race if the track was good and both cars could clear up their issues. |
Re: Fastest Street Car On Style
As for times, let's not forget vassil, and his 10 sec pass, or kevin, and his recent 10 second pass. Until either of these two hit a 10, They are still slower then the above mentioned on this board.

Yeah I'll be bringing my car to the shootout. My bad. Some otherday?

Re: Fastest Street Car On Style
Its been shown numerous times on this board and many others that you can make all the power you want and have dreams and predictions of running good times. But putting it all together at the track is a different story. Unless you are running and auto its totally up in the air what you are going to run or if you are even make one clean pass.
Especially with DSMs, you can make 700whp and think "man there is no way I won't run a 10", then you get to the track and run 12s all day and wonder what the fuck went wrong. |
