Yes, it was easily the best track experience we have ever had. All the workers were cool as hell.

They were kind of strict when we ran a 9, but that was to be expected.

I think what he's saying is, the car is light, but maybe Kyle needs to start eating Lean Cousine's for lunch ;) j/k

Who would've thought that a man who used to be a mere Lube Tech from Maplewood Toyota would be able to pull this off (off course with the help of MAP). Good Job Boyz. Kyle I think you need to cut your front bumper and put that huge front mount on there like how you had your first talon.

Yes we are using the PT71GTQ turbo and a 75 shot of nitrous. The downside is we were making boost adjustments throughout the day so we don't really know how much boost we were running, somewhere over 40 psi. We also don't currently have a means to log A/F besides the dyno and we didn't tune the nitrous on the dyno in fear of blowing the motor up lol. All we know if that when the nitrous was on we retarded timing 3 degrees and A/F went way rich just to be on the safe side.

The car has a lot more in it, we just need some more time and some reliable axles!

Chris

Wow that car is heavier that I thought. Johns car is currently 2520 on the corner scales. Needs a hood, t-case, radiator, driver, and a few other small pieces...we are estimating race weight to be 2800lbs. Hell my car is 3400lbs with driver. What is making that talon so heavy?

Congrats on the 9 second pass guys, you deserve it. Hopefully the drivetrain can handle a good 60', get you more solidly in the 9's.

Re: MAPerformance steps into the 9's @ 148mph

We have a few ideas on how to get it about 150lbs lighter, but they all cost money.

I think our dilemma right now is whether we should power our way into a lower time, or take weight out to get there. The motor LOVED the 75shot.

We would have power numbers to post............but as soon as nitrous hits the tires are up in smoke.

Your drivetrain will be much happier if you lower the weight. It may take you deeper in the 9's before you just can't keep anything from breaking.

Carbon fiber, Lexan, Jenny Craig, and a dremel will get you into the 8's
Oh fill the tires with helium... DUH I can't believe I almost forgot that.

Congrats... Love the way it sounds on the "free rev" launches.

Is the whole drivetrain stock? As far as tranny/t-case/drive sahft and all axles?

Re: MAPerformance steps into the 9's @ 148mph

Car hops pretty good out of the whole, I'd tighten up that dampener in the rear.

Trans is an EVO3 unit with a swapped gears to work with a standard 5sp 1g AWD 4bolt. It also has a TRE Spool.

Stock Transfer Case, Stock Driveshaft, All stock Axle's.

Its still on stock valves, eagle rods, and an EBay Intercooler Core.

Swanny, the rear is on full stiff:( It's looking like coilovers or something.

Yeah you might need some real suspension at this point.

I know when John snapped a 4 bolt axle back in 2004 it was from wheelhop in the rear. My car hopped once at the track last season, then it hopped one other time when it was too stiff. I am assuming you guys have played with the settings.

Honestly I would do a full suspension setup (maybe just a midgrade coil over like k-sports) before the axles, but thats just me.

Good luck at the shootout boys!

If we're making a suspension change we will be going with a ford 9" ;)

You guys making it out to the shootout?

My car will not be ready, and when it does run I will need a few track passes to work out the bugs etc, if I go back to the shootout it will be to run 8s.

Probably won't attend this year. We might be gone that weekend to hit Cedar Point, but we just don't have the time to get the cars done. I am thinking I *might* make a track visit in September/October if I am lucky.

No real point to rush it, and with all the customer vehicles here to do, just no energy at the end of the day to work on our stuff.

If that even, solid rear axels are nice thats for sure. Next to break will be output shafts and rear ring/pinions, I cant wait.
