Re: Project Spyder 2009 Build

Well I did a rough tune last night at 27 psi and it was up and down but all in the 11 AFR range. This thing pulls alot harder then what I was expecting. A little more brake in time on the new motor and if all is well with that then I may have to try and get it on the dyno at the spring dyno day. By the looks of my injector duty I may be able to bump boost up to 30 or so since it is running 11:0 up top but injectors are running full. I think this means that my single wolbro 255hp is about maxed out. :)

Re: Project Spyder 2009 Build

I got a new convert top on tonight and also started to take apart the extra rear end I have so I can swap it in the car. The one thats in there is making a constant loud howl. Hope to have it up and moving this weekend again.

Saw this thing a week or so ago. Looks great man, kinda has me thinking about getting one.

You'll have to take me for a spin in it one of these days. If you ever need someone to man the laptop while you're doing some pulls, let me know!

This weekend wouldn't work too well anyhow as my g/f will be here all weekend. Let me know though.

Re: Project Spyder 2009 Build

Well the car WAS up and running and feels very very strong. The tune is safe for now but just not a smooth 11.5. It will go a tad leaner and richer here and there but is safe for now. The dsmlink HP estimator said 508 hp or so, I wonder how close they actually are. Did a nice 1-4th gear pull and the stock tranny disagreed with that and lost a few teeth on some gears.

Thanks to SHEP and their friendly staff I was able to get a trans built and it will be here Monday. Happy B day to me since that is my Birthday as well!

I got a stage 4 with evo 1st gear upgrade, all new shafts, and cant wait to put it in. I will be able to make it to the cookout after all :).

Im bead blasting my transfer case to match my brand new tranny and will be putting everything back together with clean hands so nothing gets dirty. If anyone has a bad 2g awd tranny let me know because I need to send another one into shep since some of the parts on my core were bad and need to get him a good core.

More pictures and updates to come.

Tranny is in.

Next is installing the new rear differential, finishing exhaust, putting all new fluids in, transfer case install, and clean it very well. Cant wait to see how the new shep trans drives.

You bet and somehow it happens every year this way. If only the cookout was at the beginning of the summer then I would have a running car all summer.

Love it. ; D I'm jealous. Trying to make my car AWD but unlike yours the 08 spyders don't convert easily.

More pics!

The tranny was my "blinging up" before the cookout.

Re: Project Spyder 2009 Build

Why would you sell this after finishing it? I understand you have an Evo now and would like to invest your time and money into that (so I would assume), but honestly a stage 4 Shep trans to just go and sell?

goodhart 08-19-2009 07:49 PM

Re: Project Spyder 2009 Build

Damn that tranny is sexy!

EDIT: Transmission is sexy, just so none of you fuckers get the wrong idea!

Re: Project Spyder 2009 Build

Because right after I bought the shep I had a very good offer and am moving on to other performance platforms besides the 4g63. And no I am not going all out with the Evo that is just the daily driver.

Thanks! It better be for how much it was. It should be all spotless when done puttting it back together here for the cookout so come check it out. Back out to the garage, more work to be done on the spyder.

Any time man, It was fun feeling what a stock evo was like again. Liz also liked your evo, it was really smooth. She said her boobs didnt bounce all over like they do in mine. LOL. Oh ya, thanks for the tour of your house, looking really good already, we will for sure need to party there soon.

Sure will. I have never drove another Evo so it is nice to hear that my 108,000 mile evo rides and shifts like a dream or close too.
