Re: Car choices

Turbo'd Miata? :D It fixes one of the big issues with a Miata.

Re: Car choices

^^ If I did go with a Miata, it would definitely get a turbo. I also agree with the whole 300zx > 350z deal, but I'm trying to get out of driving an old ass car every day.

Re: Car choices

A turbo miata is going to run into just as many problems as a modded 300zx...

Re: Car choices

or just get the mazdaspeed miata that is factory turbo'd and upgrade it.

Re: Car choices

Actually, a friend of mine has a pretty nice little silver turbo Miata. It's an earlier 90's one, it has a Greddy turbo kit. Even one of those neat carbon fiber headlight covers with an air scoop. The car is located in New Brighton. I can have him PM you if you want, or PM me for more info. It would be a lot cheaper than the cars you're looking at haha!

Re: Car choices

Why not spend $5000 on a daily driver and $15-$20k on a summer car?

If I were looking for an all around car, I would go with a G35 or a BMW. IMO a G35 looks better than a 350Z. Neither are really fast cars but have some class and enough to get you around.

If I were looking for a summer car, Vette, Viper, Lotus, or NSX. Something fun which you don't see too much.

If I decide on a Miata, that will be the way I will go

The reason I'm looking at these as a daily car, is that I will be keeping my DSM for a summer fun car.

Mazdaspeed Miatas are really fun! Although too small for me to consider owning, that was the most fun car I've ever driven.

I crossed this bridge just under 2 years ago. I ended up opting for an evo as year-round fun car! I haven't looked back since. :)

X2, I wanted to buy it but the wife wouldn't let me. That thing was a hoot! Just enough power and it handled like a damn gokart. Way better handling than a regular miata.

My DSM has been my daily for going on 3 years now, and I'm ready to step up to something a little newer, and is able to corner a little better.

Those Mazdaspeed Miatas do look like they would be fun, but I think it could use a manual boost controller, and maybe a bigger fmic. That thing looks about as big as a dsm sideount, and I guess it's only running 8 psi stock.

I vote again for an AWD year round car and a fun summer RWD car. Anna recently approved of one for me:

I'll leave the img tags off due to obviously pulling this OT ;)

Re: Car choices

I like the speed miata's as well. I got to drive a bunch of them when I worked at morries mazda. really fun, plus you can opt for the big fake penis mounted to the driver seat. I wouldn't know anything about that though.

I would say stick with your original plan for getting a genesis. They are brand new, will have a nice warranty on them, they'll have tons of aftermarket support. Just slap some rims on it and it looks like a million bucks.

I know, i think of you as a little inspiration against the dumb masses sometimes. Thanks.

Re: Car choices

I'm with Fatty, sticking with your original plan of getting the Genesis Coupe is a good idea since thats what you've been wanting. With the current market, it won't take long for dealerships to cut a few grand off MSRP and for Hyundai to offer some good financing and/or cash back deals.

Hahah I will admit that thing is kinda badass, and it's currently cheaper than stock ones are going for around here. I'd buy it, but only if she came with it.
