Everytime I've been to California (southern cali) the cars have had 2 plates.

When I lived in FL and AZ though, only rear plates.

I actually started a petition for the eradication of the Minnesota front license plate law about 6-7 years ago. http://www.petitiononline.com/mnplate/petition.html

LOL I started that 7 years ago and i still occasionally get emails from people asking if i am going to send that to the representatives. Maybe i will when i get back into a MN Residence.
I dont think they really take online petitions too seriously. In paper they are much better.

it will never go though. everyone trys each year and the same thing. it was a big deal when 1970 and older cars dont have to have a front plate any more. It may be cheaper to run 1 plate but it gets rid of a aiming mark for laser and radar. I really do see this happing any time soon. All I can see is them getting more people pulled over with no front plates and not being able to get out of it. it is a huge money maker for the state. that is what is all behind it why would they want to get rid of the front plate when they make a ton of money every year on it

Just some clarification on that. The Uptake is wrong. The MN Revisor for 2014 lists the necessity of having two plates, one front and back. Even if the House passed the measure in a vocal amendment and it moved onto the Senate, it could have died there, which is my guess. (Interning at the Minnesota Senate at the moment).

This really isn't much of an issue anymore, just get collector plates, only one required. Vehicles up to 1995 this year.
