Does Scheides have any excuses for Scheides? Shit, I've even brought my slow ass WRX to the track!

lol. no, didnt get the hahn 16g. my "new" setup is actually just a fmic, test pipe, 2g mas, slight tune....and thats it. before, my car was basically in stock form with some heavy 16 inch rims. as of now, i'm puzzled because according to the serial numbers on my turbo, i only have a 14b?!? wtf? previous owner told me it's the big 16g. i'm still doin some research to see if i have the 14b in the car right now lol.

Look at the compressor wheel, does it have 6 blades? If yes, then you have a 16g (of some sort). If there's more, then its a 14b.

it does have 6 blades instead of the multiple blades like a 14b usually does. I was searching up on dsmtuners and serial codes are pulling up that i have a 14b...? but for now, I'm sure it's a 16g of some sort.

here's a pic when i had it out. serial numbers are quite clear.

Where did you get it from? Maybe someone rebuilt a 14b with a 16g wheel in it (and hopefully machined the housing to fit).

Previous owner of the Galant told me it was the Big 16g......have doubts about it now. ugh...oh well, better motivation to get an Evo 3 turbo for next year!

So who went this past weekend? For some reason I thought the next event was a week from today, but just read that it's Oct 25th. I was going to get my car all put together and somewhat tuned, but now I have even more time, I'll see if I can make the drive up from Iowa for this.

Re: 2009 Fall Dyno Day - Oct 3rd @ MAP

You guys should make the drive down to cedar falls that weekend instead of ricer falls, that way hopefully tech is a lot easier and the cars without a cage can make as many runs as they want.

asshanson 10-04-2009 11:53 PM

Re: 2009 Fall Dyno Day - Oct 3rd @ MAP

^ For sure, I'll be in Iowa so that's a lot closer for me :)

I'll start a thread about racing that weekend.

^ true, but then again, I have a cage, and I get kicked out, oh well. I'll take the chance. It's not certified, I don't have a chute, and I don't have the gloves or neck harness stuff.

Brad, you get your turbo back in time and tuned?

Well I live in Savage.

I have a pair of gloves, neckbrace, hell even pants you can probably borrow (I am a bit fat compared to you though) if you REALLY want to go to the track.

I know you enough that you aren't going to steal borrowed equipment. Let me know.

Re: 2009 Fall Dyno Day - Oct 3rd @ MAP

Thanks Josh. Frankly, it's the end of the year, if I really get kicked out of the track, it would not offend me at all. They are kinda, "need it all or nothing" kinda basis. Besides, I'm concerned with traction, lanching, shifting, etc. I don't expect a great time at all. I know the car could MAYBE run a decent time, but can I drive it to that time? Who knows. First time ever at a drag strip, remember?

What do your times have to be before you need more safety gear?

at rockfalls all you need is a helmet until you run 11.49-11.00 then you need a roll bar and when you hit 10.99 you need a roll cage as for other safety gear when your running 11.49 or faster there site says to refer to the nhra rule book

I assume that roll 'bar' is a 4 point and 'cage' is a 6 point? My car won't ever be that fast but I was thinking about putting in a 4 point just for belts.

Swifty1638 10-05-2009 12:26 PM

Re: 2009 Fall Dyno Day - Oct 3rd @ MAP

technicaly it's a roll bar till you get a 10 pt. Then you have the door pillar bars and a halo bar, making it more of a CAGE. I read that a parachute is now required or will be next year for 135mph traps. Not sure if it's true yet or not, but discussing it with a track official at brainerd he said he wouldn't put it past NHRA to require that. Most people who race spend more time and money keepin up with the rules, then with upgradin and testing their cars.

as for the chute everything I can find is you don't need one untill you are trapping 150mph or faster but I couldn't find any info on them changing that so it may be possible

Re: 2009 Fall Dyno Day - Oct 3rd @ MAP

A roll bar is a 5 or 6 point, depending on NHRA or IHRA. Most people do a 6-point regardless. Just don't get some auto-x bolt-in style 4 point and expect it to be legal for drag racing. There are specific and strict rules for drag cages.

For the last 5 years or so there have been rumors and talk of a 135mph for a parachute rule, but we will see if they ever actually implement it.

Moved benchracer's league here for now from dyno day thread. There's already a topic about it :)

Swifty1638 10-05-2009 12:56 PM

Re: 2009 Fall Dyno Day - Oct 3rd @ MAP

They don't like bolt in cages/bars. Base plate must also be 6x6". Door bars must meet th main hoop between the driver's shoulder and elbow. Harnes bar may not be any farther above the driver' shoulder, and should be a bit below it, but no more then 45 deg. below. Etc etc etc..

Re: Last rock falls this year?

Run the cars if u run the time then maybe u get kicked out.
RF is pretty chill so swifty and anyone that thinks they might be close head there.
RF is way better in every apart from the longer drive, but u will run quicker.

Swifty1638 10-05-2009 01:46 PM

Re: Last rock falls this year?

^ last part..don't you mean CF? Either way, RF I think cuz it's closer to me.

Re: Last rock falls this year?

Yeah sorry kinda out of it today. Cfr is da best!

asshanson 10-05-2009 03:39 PM

Re: Last rock falls this year?

Well I vote for CFR, but if nobody else is willing to drive there I will make the trip to RF on Sunday.

Swifty, that's MUCH further for me than you going to CFR. 340 for me vs 200 for you. I'll give you $10 in gas money to come to CFR, plus you'll have a better ET most likely.

I am more so concerned by if I break it or not. No way of getting the car home then, and no way I can afford the tow. Hell I shouldn't even consider racing at all due to that reason, but I am.

get AAA rockfalls is 100.3 miles from my house and with my AAA I get 100 miles free towing so I either pay the whopping .3 miles or push it and she's mint.

Good luck at Cedar Falls. Shit's always slick off the line, don't expect any traction in 1st.

Cedar falls is way more prepped than Rock Falls, not sure what you are talking about Spaz.

Re: Last rock falls this year?

Ya I have always heard that cedar falls is always prepped way better than rock falls. I will probably make it to the last rock falls this year on a stock turbo. Want to see if I can get into the 11's with the little stock 8 turbo.
