Re: Im a dsmer again!

yeah sorry i was thinking assembly lube, but also need the moly lube. But first and foremost, after looking at the rods and starting to grind the gouge, i rotated the crank and something looked funny.... the connecting rod is tweaked. so looks like i have to try and source one connecting rod. If anyone knows who would sell me just one rod that would be great. they are manley I beam rods.

So you have to take the head off and everything now? At least you'll be able to inspect everything closer, make sure nothing else is damaged.

At this point, space permitting, I would recommend a yank and full teardown then. A clean motor after a catastrophe is a happy motor.

yeah its kind of a blessing in disguise. I want to make sure im fully aware of any issues that may come up, make sure everything is clean and within spec. The bottoms of the pistons look good, the crank looks good. I dont want to have to pull the entire motor if i dont have to. Im going to check torque on everything.

Swanny, Do you know off hand if shops such as MAP can order individual connecting rods from manley?

Might as well perform routine maintenance ie head gasket...

Im' pretty sure MAP can order individual rods. They got me an individual piston when I needed one. And I ended up getting a rod somewhere else, but I'm pretty sure MAP said they could get me one.

The motor has 300 miles on it. not much routine maint. to do.

That sucks dude. I'm sure you can get just one rod but...ouch, sounds like a lot more than you were hoping for.

1g's ftw. yay.

Didn't Brandon buy 1 new rod?

I got my rod off the Link forums, but MAP got me 1 piston, and pretty sure they said they could have gotten me 1 rod but ended up finding a good deal on the Link forums.

Looks like another example of why he should not be building motors....

I'm in favor of Swanny's advice. Pull the motor, tear it all apart, inspect everything. That way you don't run into more problems later. Do it once the right way, rather than half ass it the first time, then end up doing it all over again.

X2. That's pretty much what I'm doing with my entire car this year. Save yourself some time in the future, and do everything right the first time.
