Good buy! switch that exhaust out asap! Post pics of the interior! |
Re: Scheides' New Beater
The car runs great and rides nice. As long as he can nip that cancer in the bud it'll end up being a great car.
|
Re: Scheides' New Beater
Loved the car! For sure Ridin Dirta!
|
Re: Scheides' New Beater
Someone needs to sign up the car the the dyno day, so they can base line it.
|
Re: Scheides' New Beater
^he had it on the dyno before he bought it, lol.
|
Re: Scheides' New Beater
You pulled the trigger on it! Woot! Good luck with it. Here's to a new beginning *raises beer you bought me*
|
Re: Scheides' New Beater
Nice! I need a ride sometime, I've still yet to have a ride in an X.
|
Re: Scheides' New Beater
Nice pickup! Should be a fun project.
|
Re: Scheides' New Beater
Whoa! Im kinda saddened and I dont know why. Maybe its the condition of the car, id probably run the other way after checking it out. It will be nice to see you clean it up and baby it though!
Congrats!! For some reason I still just cant see you driving an X. haha |

red is pull #1, green is pull #3 after exactly two changes to the fuel map and a few other spots to see how she responded. http://www.scheides.com/gallery/evoX...aust_uicp_fmic If you compare this to murlo's baseline, it's pretty much spot on: http://mitsustyle.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25695 Needs a testpipe and some sort of an intake, but I cannot decide wtf I want, almost everything seems to have some sort of compromise. Need to sell more stuff before I can do anything, so I got time to decide :) Quote:

Gotta take it to the dealer first though to get some issues sorted. |
Re: Scheides' New Beater
nice.. now just get rid of the Excessive autosport shit and it will be even better!

You're doing a favor to the Evo gods by saving this X. I'm sure you'll have plenty of fun with her!

Aside from the rusty welds, the UICP looks decent. Bling ain't everything you know :) I'll take it off for the trip to the dealer, and bring it by primo while its off. |
Re: Scheides' New Beater
honestly i didn't think the car was too bad personally. I think it was a great pickup. Just needs some tuning/mod love.
Then a good clay bar/waxing! |

Re: Scheides' New Beater
Aaaand the car just puked out all of its power steering fluid. GREAT! Looks like its coming from the nose somewhere, on the cooling line. Boo.
|
Re: Scheides' New Beater
and....BARF!
FMIC must be rubbing :( |
Re: Scheides' New Beater
Oh crap... Not good.
|
Re: Scheides' New Beater
Suck!
|
Re: Scheides' New Beater
omg this is kinda unbelievable. The hose clamp on the coupler that attaches to the FMIC was kinda sticking out and rubbing on the power steering cooling loop tube...and wore a hole in it. Unreal.
|
Re: Scheides' New Beater
man, for the paint condition, curbed wheels, and now the PS leaks? What other issues will rear their ugly heads!? This just doesn't seem to be promising to me..but, hopefully knowing you, you'll resurrect her from ashes.
|
Re: Scheides' New Beater
Dang that sucks! Should be an easy fix but still. :/
|
Re: Scheides' New Beater
Luckily scheides has the know-how to deal with any minor problem. There's a reason I went with a brand-new X...all of those little things cost a mint to have somebody else fix.
|
Re: Scheides' New Beater
^ lol... Paying someone to fix easy jobs like that is kinda sad.
40k over 25k. Easy decision for me. |
Re: Scheides' New Beater
At least it will be a easy fix.
|
Re: Scheides' New Beater
Power steering is for chumps anyways!
Car dosen't look like its in horrible shape, and I know you will make it better than ever. Good luck! |

Re: Scheides' New Beater
I bent the offending part of the hose clamp back a bit, its a tight spot so some JBweld and post-it notes will have to do for now. There's a napa very near my office, hopefully this holds together.

Re: Scheides' New Beater
Know how and the tools to do something are two very different things.
There are jobs that I did on my X that would've been cheaper to pay someone to do it because of the tools i had to buy. You pay for everything with either time/money. No way around that. Some people prefer to spend their free time not wrenching on cars. If i had unlimited tools i would do a lot of stuff myself. I love working on cars. |
