Re: All we wanted was some BBQ...
I would have gone crazy and probably ended up in the back of the squad car. UGH this is ridiculous!
Im sorry Kracka :( Did the guy get a ticket for having headphones on? Pretty sure thats illegal. Hopefully things get fixed up with no frame damage. I doubt there is anything totally bent out of alignment but its hard to tell without seeing it. |
Re: All we wanted was some BBQ...
I think the windshield and rear door glass not cracking is a good sign that things stayed solid and straight.
As far as I know the other driver was told to go home and was given no citations which is very frustrating. |

You should have his insurance info, I always take down addresses off the cards too, just in case I need them at a later date.

Re: All we wanted was some BBQ...
The initial estimate from State Farm came back at $8,340, but they're arguing about a few of the things so I will need to fight with them a bit. The body shop is pushing them too so it shouldn't be a problem. All said and done I expect the final repairs to be right around $10k. The body shop said they have not found any serious damage yet and besides for sheet metal and paint the car is in really good shape considering.
I'm also a bit peeved my agent, or anyone at State Farm for that matter, hasn't contacted me today. The body shop has been in constant contact with me but I'm the one reaching out to my insurance company. |
Re: All we wanted was some BBQ...
Same thing happened to me, I was kinda in limbo for a few days there. It sucked, but each time I called my agent I got through and he was way cool about everything.
|
Re: All we wanted was some BBQ...
Did you deal with your actual agent or some 1-800 call center?
|
Re: All we wanted was some BBQ...
That is a good amount of damage. Must be getting close to a total

Re: All we wanted was some BBQ...
I think a total has to be 75% of the value? At least thats why they didnt total my M out when it got hit in the parking lot.
Mine was at 7k of damage and the car was only worth maybe 11, still not totaled out. |
Re: All we wanted was some BBQ...
Yeah, I knew it wouldn't total out. I've seen cars around the same value with worse damage than that get fixed. She'll be back and looking good as new in no time!
Sucks the insurance is jacking you around though. They tend to not like it so much when you don't use their "preferred shops" but there isn't anything they can do to prevent you from taking it where you want. |

Sorry to hear about this Kracka. Too much carnage around here. Sounds like you are on your way to getting it fixed up better than ever.

Reasons like this are exactly why I don't use affiliated shops or things like Progressive's concierge service. Shortcuts are guaranteed to be taken and the work will generally be of a much lower quality. |

Re: All we wanted was some BBQ...
I just spoke with the body shop and they're saying about 2 weeks for the car depending on how quickly Mitsu can get the parts. I also spoke with State Farm and we're in the process of working out the small details; they're sending the claims adjuster back to the shop to look at the things we feel he missed.

Shitty man!
Time for an ice cream paint job |
Re: All we wanted was some BBQ...
I just fought a bit more with insurance over the phone and they're going to take care of the smaller stuff they were trying to deny so that's good news at least.
|
Re: All we wanted was some BBQ...
Good, I'm glad to hear they're actually doing what you pay them to do.

The first wave of parts should take a week, then hope they don't need more. |
Re: All we wanted was some BBQ...
Yeah insurance companies have a hard time understanding that you want your damn car the same way it was before it was crashed. That means if the windows were tinted and one broke then they all might have to be redone to match. Or if you had underbody neons on your car and they broke (not that anyone here would) you would want them replaced as well. Fucking insurance companies have no trouble raping its customers with outrageous preminums and grey area, but when it comes to actually paying out a claim they act like you are trying to rip them off. Fuck idiots.
Hopefully it goes well Chris, I still don't know why you are downgrading back to an S2k though. I would make the EVO a convertible before I would do that. :) |
Re: All we wanted was some BBQ...
So...the police dept is trying to charge me $6 for the accident report. They can go fuck themselves. Public servants what? If my insurance needs it they can go right ahead and pay the $6 for it.

Re: All we wanted was some BBQ...
Wow, that's fucked up. Isn't that what taxes are for?

Re: All we wanted was some BBQ...
From the sounds of things this is pretty standard throughout the country (at least from what I've heard from some MN residents). Maybe it varies city by city? Either way, its retarded and I'm not paying for it since I'm sure it's bogus and inaccurate anyway.

Re: All we wanted was some BBQ...
I had to pay for a police report from Circle Pines (the cost was per piece of paper). Blaine charged me nothing. Maybe it all depends on the person behind the counter?

Ive never been charged either. Weird.
They should charge the person that hit you, not both parties. :P |
