I suppose he could've worded it a little better but it is a fact.
I don't care if you hate for it or not but it is. And believe me, they have no shame about it. I am not going to whore up this thread anymore debating this. If you want to slam me, do it in PM's. |
I just want to say that Erik is right, there are a lot of migrant, hispanic workers. I grew up in a small farming community and places like Green Giant bring crews in to work the fields. Go down to Blooming Prairie about mid August and tell me what you see!!

not many (mexican accent) "Gringos' "

I honestly don't think Mexican/migrant workers should be something to worry about. My point is that if Tom really wants to try something different, there are always farm jobs available. Drive 20 miles out of the Cities, the odds are you'll be able to find a fairly large dairy operation that is milking 3 times a day and hires people for at least two of those shifts. There is a guy I used to work with who wanted to try something different for a while (he was in the music retail business) so he got a job working 3rd shift at a 400 head milking operation. Does he love the work? No. Does he hate it? No. Does it pay respectable? Yes, roughly 13 bucks an hour starting. It's something different that pays respectable and I wouldn't consider to be boring, granted I'm more agriculture oriented than Tom but I still think that there is a chance to enjoy it. I mean shit, he'd get play with teats for 8 hours a day :P

Tom, just a word of advice from me since I actually have to interview and hire ppl (like you).
Don't limit yourself to the pay. Yes, you need money but in this market there are so many others out there just as good if not better than you that will take the job for less. And yes, companies will hire those people first. Sorry, fact of life. If I were you, since you want so much money, I would go to a warehouse type job since they will pay more for the manual labor. |
Got a new job I start June 1 starting pouring concrete pay is 12.50 an hour and anything done for habitat for humanity pays 29 an hour.
with tons of overtime my buddy clears around 700 a week |
