I want more. This is my first ever firearm. I'd like to get my c and c as well. This is used for the range and defending mah cardboard box.

Straight out of the box and onto the range, no hiccups with 200 rounds through it.

Nice grouping!

Currently, I got S&W MP15 MOE edition AR15 (MOE basically is magpul stuff for everything. Stock, railcover, magazines, M-bus collapsible iron sights, lower). I also added a BCM Charging Handle v3 to it as the stock charging handles on AR's are just horrid.

I also had an HK P30L which I sold and got HK VP9 that I carry daily. Absolutely in LOVE with the VP9.

I plan on grabbing a suppressor for my AR, not gonna do a whole new upper for .300 blackout and just run the suppressor with .223. I will end up grabbing a bolt action .308 or a bolt action 25 or 30-06. We shall see, car parts take priority atm :D

Went to a new range this weekend in Wisconsin for some long range shooting.
Really nice facility that reaches out to 600 yards. I've never shot over around 200 yards.
Was crazy good time! Here's a quick vid of my iron sights Romy AK ringing steel at 300 yards

What's the name of the range? Public? Would be nice to dial in my AR sometime at 200+ yards out.

Also, that's impressive for 300 yards pinging steel like that with the AK, nice shooting!

Well bringing this back from the dead since I have something I can actually post.

So I've been wanting to build an AR for a long time. I bought a stripped lower receiver about 7 years ago since I had a permit back then and that's the piece you need a permit for. But I just never got around to building it.

So fast forward to a few weeks ago. One of my coworkers is a big gun guy (still in Navy Reserves) and we got to talking and he said he has all the tools and could build it for me. So I took him up on the offer. I renewed my permit and we started picking out parts. In the end I want to build two. I wanted one that's more of a badass tactical FDE looking one, and then a longer barrel varmint style one. So we watched for deals and it seemed like the deals we found were for the tactical one so we started with that one. Here's what we ended up with:

- Bought a new Anderson stripped lower. Since I have my new permit, and I ultimately want to build 2 AR's, and prices are dirt, figured why not just another lower right now.
- Lower Parts kit build the lower (don't recall the brand)
- AR Stoner assembled upper w/ low-profile gas block & flash suppressor & 16" 7:1 barrel (5.56 chamber)
- Magpul FDE stock, Magpul FDE front vertical grip, Magpul FDE MBUS flip up sights.
- Monstrum FDE 10" Rail/Keymod Freefloat, Monstrum FDE handguard inserts (not shown).

Pretty much sums up the parts that were used for the rifle itself. I may eventually get a red dot for it, but for now I wanted to just play with normal sites since that's all we ever used in the Marines.
In total with the deals we found, it came out to around $500-$550 for the entire build. I also bought some general stuff like six Amend2 black magazines (30rnd) & two HexMag FDE magazines (30rnd), 500 rounds of ammo, bunch of cleaning stuff, Plano case, and other misc things. Need to get to the range and try it out and zero it in, can't wait!

Wound up passing my 20" AR onto my dad to enjoy, and replaced it with this. Absolutely stunning, and lived up to my expectations even as a CZ fanboy.

That looks nice, I like it. What are the details on that? Still 5.56?

Thanks! It's the CZ 805 Bren S1, 16" Barrel Carbine config, I have a suppressor in waiting right now. Vortex Diamondback 4-12x40. 5.56 chamber, folding stock, gas piston with an adjustable gas block for can use.

Nice! I need to look into a supressor for the AR. It would be nice if it was a little quieter. They are absurdly loud with 16" barrels which I assume yours will be as well. I assume you will have a couple month wait time? Did you just go and purchase and fill out paperwork at the retailer?

dogwhistle 02-01-2018 05:49 PM

Re: The Gun Thread

Well the first suppressors I handled were a buddy of mine who did a legal trust and have around 7 of them now. When I got the one in waiting, I did it on a single person filing, by purchasing the suppressor through the manufacture. They shipped it to Bills GS via their FFL information in the database. I had to pay for that form 3 transfer at Bills which was $75. Then the ATF Form 4, Bills helped me prep most of it, then sent it in with a check for the theft I mean tax, then it'll get approved in 6-8 months time.

I better way to go if you have money, is to buy a nicer can through silencershop:
https://blog.silencershop.com/f4-bar...proved-by-atf/
as they have a faster method of approval, and many rebates that will cover your tax stamp.

My 20" AR was actually louder depending on the muzzle device, but the Factory 805 comp is still noisy for sure. I usually shoot XM855 62gr or PPU 75gr match grade. This barrel is 1:7, so the match grade might stay at bay since it won't be as worth the cost. The 20" AR was 1:8 so I might reinventory to PPU Match 69gr.

My take on it, is that it handles extremely well. I've shot the PPQ, VP series, P99, and almost every Glock to compare it to. The grip texturing is stellar, the weight/balance is superb, the ergonomics are improved on Glock. However, the VP and M1 variants of popular Walther and all current HK (Umarex in general), do win on ergonomics, and in my heartbroken honesty, quality control. The P10 will need a full smooth over from a gun smith before duty use, which isn't a big deal to many like me who tear into any gun right away, but the out of the box setup is in need of review. Other pro's however will be based on the fact that there is so much aftermarket for the P10, the price is much better of the bat, the magazines and other parts are cheaper including most holsters.

If I had to choose between them for CCW, I'd probably go with the paddle mag release and higher end out of the box features of the VP9C even as a CZ fanboy. I would however choose the P10c if my environment of use were more duty or LE related due to durability, cost, and servicing.
