Re: The Gun Thread
Is the permit for first time gun owners or something? I just bought a gun in Blaine last month and didn't fill out a permit. :P Just the normal state form when you buy the gun.

Re: The Gun Thread
Yea permit to purchase is only for handguns I thought from a private party, otherwise dealers you apply right with them.
Rifles and shotguns though.. they just do a quick check on your and off you go. |
Re: The Gun Thread
Permit allows you to buy a handgun same day if you also pass the fed check. I have it as I'm also looking at a handguns, but for rifles you don't need one. Just the form and the fed check, think it's called a NIX check or something.
Also, if anyone hasn't been to Arnzen Arms in EP, go. Such a nice store and the staff is great. Their shop dog is amazing. lol |
Re: The Gun Thread
Hmmm, I thought for sporting rifles (assault rifle style) you had to have it. It's called a permit to purchase.
I am going to Bill's tonight so I will confirm with them. I already filed the form with the PD today, should have the permit in a week or two. I also went to Capela's and Cabela's today, neither had any assault rifles :( Might end up with something bolt action, we will see. I am going to talk to Bill's tonight when we go shooting about ordering me one otherwise I might do the onlinegunbroker deal and have it shipped to Bill's. I am also going to be in Oklahoma all next week so I plan to look there and arrange to have it shipped to bills if i find something. |
Re: The Gun Thread
Pretty sure the permit is for handguns, as well as assault rifles. I needed it to purchase my AR-15 receiver from Bill's. Bill's still had to do a quick check while I was there, but I needed the state issued permit as well. They're good for a year, and the permit was free when I applied at Blaine PD, and I think I got it in like a week. I was amazed because nothing government issued is free typically!

I got the last two 25 round mags for my Ruger SR22 at Fleet Farm tonight. Anything AR related there is also gone. |
Re: The Gun Thread
Had trouble finding 7.62x39. Bought a 1400 round case of IMI munitions, complete with hebrew on the crate and a star of david on lid retainer. Sitting pretty with the new Arsenal SLR-101S AK and my converted Saiga 12.

Re: The Gun Thread
So the two SCAR's at Bills were sold and we checked with them, 6-8 months to get a SCAR. I guess all the manufacturers have halted production to see how this all shakes out :(
They had ammo and a SCAR to rent, I tested it out. It had iron sites and I am sure was a little beat up, but I loved every shot! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlViTnJ1eGA&hd=1 The sights were a bit off I think or something because I was pretty consistent. Awesome night at the range and now I just need to find a SCAR to buy. I am going to Oklahoma next week so hopefully I can find one there, buy it and have bills get it shipped to them. Fired a SCAR, sig516, .45 pistol (can't remember what kind) and my buddies .223 AR and his .22 AR. The 22 was fun, little plinker but fun and cheap to shoot. Great night, really want a gun so I can do it more often. |
Re: The Gun Thread
Let me know next time you go, I'd love to try it out and learn some more.

Re: The Gun Thread
I bet Bill's loves melted plastic on their barrels.
The sight adjustment was probably set for 400 yards or something stupid like that. Did you check it? Permits to purchase or carry are needed for handguns and "assault" type firearms. Anything else, rifles or shotguns, can be purchased at the counter. All transactions have to pass an NICS check. |

^Take me to buy guns!

Just bought a Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22 yesterday. The price was way to good to pass up. Both my father and my uncle bought DPMS 5.56/2.23's 3 weeks ago so I didnt feel the need to go that route. I wanted something fun to shoot, cheap to shoot and something a little different. I will probably wait out this high priced bull shit and try to find a decent price on a DPMS .308 eventually.
Picked up the gun, bi-pod, front hand grip, scope & mount, along with 1300 rounds of federal's for $627 after tax. Very happy with it. Then went back and spent $70 on a nice case and cleaning supplies that I forgot. So for under $700 I couldnt go wrong. Put 300 rounds through it yesterday and no regrets! Kind of a small pic, I'll get a better one on Thursday when we go back to the range. My parents bought me some exploding targets for xmas so this should be interesting! Trying to figure out how to mount the go-pro to this one. haha Happiness is a warm gun! :) |

Re: The Gun Thread
Brother in law gave me a old single shot 410 shotgun for xmas. It was his that he got from his dad. When his dad passed recently he then got his dads gun as well. With only girls for kids he passed his gun on to me, so it is something that means a lot. Should also be a fun gun to get out with and kill a few wabbits.

I love that shotgun AJ!
Today I added a Sig Sauer 1911 45ACP to my collection. Can't wait to shoot it! http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...12171519_n.jpg |

Re: The Gun Thread
I hadn't seen details on this yet. She is the same lady that got the original gun ban through in 1994. This bitch is crazy!!
http://www.nraila.org/legislation/fe...-ban-bill.aspx You want to charge me a $200 tax for owning my AR? Kiss my ass bitch! I can't even sell the thing if this passes, I just pay the tax or lose my gun. I don't see any way this passes. |
