Re: Project Lex
Nice, doing some serious work, good job. I need to see this in person this spring, never seen it and looks like a fun ass project.

Re: Project Lex
Some more pics. I think I'm done with the passenger and driver side wires. One thing I may not have mentioned is I've removed my ABS, so the ABS fuse box and associated wiring is removed from the driver side. So the wire you see that I ran in that wheel well is just the brake reservoir sensor.
Passenger Side: here you can see I extended the alternator cable about 8" or so and snaked it (and clamped it) around the bottom side there http://www.dsmstyle.com/photopost/data/656/CAM00037.jpg the next few pics you can see I just used black zip ties to secure the loom. I think I'm going to go back and add a 2nd zip tie to every spot just for redundancy in case one were to break. I also had to extend that wire that runs back into the engine bay near the firewall, must be for A/C or something. http://www.dsmstyle.com/photopost/data/656/CAM00028.jpg http://www.dsmstyle.com/photopost/data/656/CAM00027.jpg http://www.dsmstyle.com/photopost/data/656/CAM00030.jpg How it looks in the engine bay now. http://www.dsmstyle.com/photopost/data/656/CAM00034.jpg Driver Side: http://www.dsmstyle.com/photopost/data/656/CAM00041.jpg Had to extend the brake reservoir wire (forgot how much) Probably could have extended it a little more, but I think it's probably fine. http://www.dsmstyle.com/photopost/data/656/CAM00042.jpg http://www.dsmstyle.com/photopost/data/656/CAM00043.jpg |

Small update. Used some Night Shades and Clear on the front side markers to tint them a little bit. Also removed the cross webbing in the 'mouth' of the front bumper. Removed the Lexus logo. Attached the Wise front lip with some SS button head bolts.
Also inspired by Floppy's post, got some Meguiars Headlight Restore. Practiced on the high beams. Not too shabby I'd say. |
Re: Project Lex
So a little more update on this project. Since Tyler was born, free time isn't really what it used to be. So I was having trouble getting it all done done. So my choices were to either let it sit another year, or ask for help. Well, DB Performance said they'd help :) Hoping to hit the dyno here next week! Big thanks to the guys at DB for getting a lot of this done for me, great work!
Basic rundown of what is new for this year: - Mini wire-tuck - FFIM installed (and everything that goes with that) - Mini lawn battery installed - IAT sensor installed - Zinc/slotted front rotors and ceramic pads - Exhaust tweaked to fit around 350z trans bracket. Also added Vibrant resonator and Vibrant muffler to keep my old man ears at peace. - Recirc WG back into exhaust - IS300 ignition - Billet cover over old distributor cap - Able to run a real intake now - FIC 2150's That's basically it under the hood. Once it's done on the dyno it'll head to the body shop. Body will be getting the following - Wise style front lip (already installed). - 97 OEM sideskirts - Rideskinz fujin style rear lip - Accord Spoiler - Paint So hoping by mid/end of May it will be ready to rock! Here's a couple teasers Jason @ DB sent me. Exhaust tweaked around trans mount, Vibrant resonator installed http://www.clublexus.com/forums/atta...n_exhaust3.jpg Vibrant rear muffler http://www.clublexus.com/forums/atta...onexhaust2.jpg Engine bay buttoned up http://www.clublexus.com/forums/atta...c300-image.jpg |

Re: Project Lex
whats the brand on that turbo blanket? and are you pleased with it? does it do its job pretty well?
|
Re: Project Lex
Are you going to run sans lights? Or is that just for tuning?
I like the front lip and side skirts. And the engine bay looks nice. |
Re: Project Lex
Good choice! Looks very nice and simple.
|
Re: Project Lex
Yeah, that lip really helps out the aggressiveness of the car but still looks clean.
|
Re: Project Lex
Lookin great! Will need a ride once its done! :)

Couple updated pics, it's officially been Frankenstein'd, how many colors can you count haha! All lips and everything mounted with the exception of the rear which I'm going to let the body shop do I think. All badges removed. All lights removed for paint. Right now plan is finish rolling the fenders, then deliver the car to the body guy next weekend for paint. Pretty happy with how the Accord spoiler turned out too.

Re: Project Lex
I'm guessing the price is good too?
|
Re: Project Lex
Around $2k. Considering he is going to disassemble everything, fix all dents, fill old badge holes, mount rear lip, etc and said it'll look mint when he is done, it seems like a pretty good price for all that.
|
Re: Project Lex
Nice! Kind looks like a r33 from the rear with no tail lights.
|
Re: Project Lex
Nice, that is a real good price
|
Re: Project Lex
Holy crap yes it is!
When you dropping it off? |
Re: Project Lex
Next weekend hopefully. Gotta give him a call on Wednesday to see how his schedule looks in case we have to reschedule. I have a work trip over the week of the 19th so basically I'm hoping it's done when I get back.
Wanna come with? I'll need a ride home :). Either that or I'll just trailer it there. |
Re: Project Lex
Let me know what day, if my sucky work schedule doesn't get in the way then I'm down.
I had some questions about your transmission, is it a 6spd from a 350/370Z? how much did that run you? I found a company that will adapt that transmission to any motor pretty much: http://collinsadapters.com/index.php...es/toyota.html I have also found reviews that the comfort of driving this transmission is above that of the good old T56/TR6060. i can't lie, I really want to build one of these too. |
Re: Project Lex
Yep, collins is the adapter i have. He has a customer with a 2jz swapped bimmer running his trans adapter.
|
Re: Project Lex
Nice! This thing is looking awesome. Maybe I missed it, but are you switching colors?
Should look sweet when done, good work, I like the spoiler. We need a blaine meet this summer. Lots of people already meet at Bricks, or they did, would be nice to see you guys again once I get my POS working again. |
Re: Project Lex
Nina has that same spoiler on her accord. haha Cant wait till its all done! Pimppp
