Weekly update:

Walkthrough is setup for 6/6 to point out any issues.
Leave for Fargo 6/7
Get married 6/9 in Fargo :)
Come back 6/11
Final walkthrough is setup for 6/13 to ensure those issues were corrected.
Closing is setup for 6/14 (2 weeks away!!!)

As for house progress:
- All lighting (interior and exterior) has been installed.
- Water is plumbed and fully functional. All toilets and sinks, etc are installed.
- Electrical is complete and fully functional (including cable & phone jacks)
- Kitchen appliances installed (Frigidaire Gallery). We are not getting laundry machines, will just be taking the ones from Katy's house and using them in the new house.
- Furnace and air exchanger system fully installed.
- A/C unit installed.
- Real front door installed
- All door knobs/hardware installed.
- 50% of cabinet hardware installed.
- All ceiling fans mounted and functional
- Metal rod/banisters installed on stair railing
- Downstairs carpet is installed.
- They've started doing the final grading. We met with the landscaper as well, so hopefully they will be starting on that within the next week or so.
* If anyone one here knows any good Gutter people, there's a couple spots we know need gutters pretty bad.
- Garage walls have been fully rolled with the free paint from my cousin. I just need to finish cutting in around the edges some more.

That's about it I think. I have 3 old ceiling fans in my house, I think I'm going to hang one of them in the garage. If anyone wants a couple ugly, but fully functional ceiling fans, let me know. I'm also trying to find a deal on some nice fluorescent fixtures to install in the garage if anyone has any.

That's all, here's some pics

Haha, is that a door with a 1 story drop in the back? Future deck?

Love the kitchen and garage space.

Re: House Projects

Yeah that door is for a future deck. For now it acts as a urinal :)

Just a little update for this week.

- Driveway and front sidewalk are in.
- All cabinet hardware installed (kitchen, bath, etc)
- Front door painted
- Carpet is 100% complete in entire house
- Started staging the stuff used to install the stone on the front of the garages, so assume that is coming soon.
- Contractors started cleaning up after themselves so places like the garage, furnace room, etc are starting to look pretty clean now.

Pretty much it for now. Here's some updated pics. Last pic shows the house at dusk with exterior lighting on. The ones on the front of the garage are a dim candle flicker affect, but brighten up when motion is detected.

Pretty much it

Re: House Projects

Decided to resurect the built in grill that our house came with this week. I had Centerpoint come out and make sure everything was in good shape and replace the bad parts. They fired it up and it works like a champ!

I then scuffed all the paint and scrapped the inside with a wire brush. I gave it one coat of paint last night (thats all homedepot had last night in the sheen I wanted). It will need a couple more coats, but should look almost new when I'm done! It will be nice to not worry about running out of propane. I also discovered it has a ceramic coated grill grate!

Not really a project for me, but last weekend I moved to a townhome in Eagan with my gf. It's nice to not live way out in the sticks anymore!

Well went off and got married this weekend. Came home today to see the progress.

- Final grade with black dirt complete
- Landscaping has begun.
-River rock and edging installed.
- Boulder retaining wall installed.
- Start sod install tomorrow so had to go buy a bunch of water hose and
sprinklers as it will require a lot of watering.
- Rock installed on front of garage.
- Began painting front of house
- Interior all cleaned up ready for closing.
- They are still doing misc patch up work on the inside, we noted a lot of little things on our walkthrough last Wednesday so they are patching that all up.

Here's some pics!

Re: House Projects

No irrigation system? Also, who did the landscaping do you know?

Halon 06-11-2012 09:42 PM

Re: House Projects

We are roughed in for a future irrigation system, meaning they ran a larger water feed to the house, and the pipe is on the outside of the house if we ever get one. You can see it in some of the older pics, big brass piped behind the garage running down the side of the house exterior.

We really watched our budget and that didn't make it into the budget. So manual lawn watering for now, hopefully some day in the future we will be able to get a sprinkler system.

That's who did our landscaping. 3 different companies contacted us. We met with this guy first and never even talked to the others. He made us feel like we were in good hands, so decided to just stick with them. So far no complaints.

Re: House Projects

That's cool you are hooked up for irrigation for future.

I was wondering who the landscaper was because the guy I worked for last summer did high end stuff like you would see in your neighborhood
