Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

I have one that should be in, tomorrow am. I'll do it tomorrow night I guess.
I might just RTV it to at least test the car out. But I would prefer a gasket.

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

The only problem with rtv on an automatic is any excessive amount will get into the tranny fluid and could possibly gum up the valve body. I seen it once with an Allison automatic. The company installed an aftermarket pto and used rtv instead of a gasket. Bad move since the pto should have been shimmed. But there biggest mistake was they used so much rtv it destroyed there transmission.

I have a few on order locally, but it will wait till saturday when I have a gasket. No point doing it tomorrow since i work 10-1030.

Only thing is whether or not the car will work or what issue will come up next.

Well same issue. Not sure what the culprit is now.

you could try wireing it up kiggly mod or 2 switch style to eliminate valve body/solinoid issue. I'm sure its the first thing you did but I would also double check all the plugs and harness' and that the shift linkage is adjusted properly. Theh 2 plugs on top of the trans would be easy to miss or not get pluged in all the way.

I would check the solenoid resistance straight at the tcu, that way you make sure the whole circuit it good.

The best way is to load test the circuit because you could have one strand making contact in the harnessm but as soon as you put a load on it, it becomes a huge voltage drop.

How would one do this? I'm useless at electrical diagnosis.

Ok, did some troubleshooting last night went through the guide in the manual and turns out 2 plugs were in the wrong place.

Switched them out and bam! car works as normal.
