Distant future but yes. One will happen

Re: Project Lex
Had a chance to see how sticky those Nitto's are? I imagine 2nd gear would be fine, but curious if they can hook in 1st gear.

Well just finished up the latest mod to the SC300. Air Conditioning!!!
This thing has not had AC since I bought it, finally decided to get it figured out since I'm a pussy driving it around in July heat/humidity. So when I pressed the AC button, it would start blinking which I believed to mean that it wasn't detecting the compressor clutch engaged. So I jumpered 12V right to the clutch and heard/felt nothing. So I ordered up a reman compressor. Installed the new compressor this weekend. I also replaced just about all the o-rings. There were 2 that I know of that I just couldn't get so they stayed. I also got a new drier from O'Rielly. What was wierd was I ended up having to order one for an SC400, the SC300 didn't have the right dowel pin locations. So anyhow new o-rings, new drier, and new compressor. I jumered 12V to the compressor just to see, and you could hear it engage clear as day, that was a good sign! I ended up calling my cousin who works at a shop in St. Louis Park. We pulled a vacuum on the system and it held perfect. Another good sign! We added oil and then 30oz of R134a. Pressed the AC button when we were all done and out came cold air. Super happy, now I can drive this thing more often since I don't have to worry about constantly sweating my ass off! |
Re: Project Lex
Hell yes!
Nothing pussy about having a sweaty nut sack |
Re: Project Lex
That's awesome, I have to do the same thing. No AC really sucks.
|
Re: Project Lex
Thats awesome that it held pressure, for the car having the years on it. Good call on replacing the receiver drier and compressor. Enjoy the cool air!
|
Re: Project Lex
Very nice! AC with racecar is awesome times!
|
Re: Project Lex
HOLY COW, its 1:30am and i'm read this thread from post #1 to #1128. i can't believe i missed this build!
I need to get a f'n ride, I can't believe i haven't seen this car in the neighborhood if i recognized the house where you are thats just down the street from me..! |
Re: Project Lex
I'm kinda near 105th and Radison, near the airport.
|
Re: Project Lex
Nice job! Cool nuts ftw
|
Re: Project Lex
Staying cool is the best! I don't think I've driven around with the windows down yet this year. Now you just need 35% tint and maybe that ceramic film and you'll be golden.
|
Re: Project Lex
Absolutely on the ceramic tint, just waiting for AJ to throw another par-tay!
|
Re: Project Lex
^Same here, I should have at least one maybe 2 whips to get done.
|
Re: Project Lex
My buddy want his C7 done as well. Do it up AJ!!
|
Re: Project Lex
Will have to look into it soon.
|
Re: Project Lex
Dyno today?
me and 5 guests want to know. |
Re: Project Lex
Yeah. Weather sucks ass but I'm scheduled at 3. I might get there at 2 instead if it seems like there's going to be a break in the weather then. Not going to be too exciting though, just doing a quick 3-pull type deal to see how RavenWorks numbers compare since I really have no reference to how their dyno reads in comparison to others I've been on before.

Re: Project Lex
probably going to be there around 2:40. Kinda interested in checking out that new shop a block away now too.

Re: Project Lex
Where is this being done at, anyway?

Sorry man just saw this, I was at MAP.
So I took a quick trip to MAP for just 3 dyno pulls. Since I'd never been on the RavenWorks dyno before, I didn't really know how it read in comparison to other dynos. I made 545hp at RavenWorks. Bob estimated that'd be 570 or so on a DynoJet. So I went to MAP to see for myself. Car made 561hp / 471tq. It was a considerably hotter day out, and in the dyno room. So I think Bob's estimate was about right, probably about a 5% difference. Best pull attached. Scanner is being a bastard so hard to see the lines. |
Re: Project Lex
Fun car, fun power level. 2jz no shit.
|
Re: Project Lex
^Agreed.
what's with the 50hp jump in the last 1000rpm? 1 psi? |
Re: Project Lex
Nice numbers!
|
Re: Project Lex
No idea. Part of me wonders if the rad fan had turned on, then turned off at the end at a certain RPM. After all it was pretty hot, and I had the A/C on for the whole drive there :)

Operation redo interior is underway. Most of this will get done over the winter, but I've started a couple little things as well as started accumulating parts. Basically I'll be redoing the interior to either black, or a black / brown combo (kinda like seen in some bimmers). And as previously mentioned, will also be fitting in some different (lighter) front seats.
So far I've purchased and installed new black floor mats, black armrest, and black rear view mirror. I purchased new interior door panels since mine are not in good shape. Anything that is broken I'm buying replacements. Otherwise I'm just going to try dying the rest with SEM. |

So I had dipped my wheels a couple months ago, but hated how it turned out. I dipped them charcoal with pearlizer over the top. Ended up just looking cheezy and inconsistent with the pearl overcoat. So I peeled it all off and told myself I'm only doing single stage colors now.
I bought a test can of the silver mettalic and the anthracite metallic. I tested them on my spare set of FD wheels. Had a hard time choosing but I was leaning towards the silver since I think it just looks clean and unassuming, which fits what I'm going for with this car. However I already kind of know what silver looks like on the car, so I went ahead and bought anthracite. I got the rears done, I think it gives it a much more aggressive look which is kind of cool. I also went from 5mm spacers to 10mm spacers in the rear as well, along with longer studs. I like how it looks, more aggressive. I'll get the fronts done eventually as well. Then will just see how I like them. If I decide I liked silver better, I'll just buy silver and spray right over it. Here's a few pics. Before shot of the rears (car on dyno). Then a couple after shots. Also a pic of my silver/anthracite test wheels |
Re: Project Lex
Looking good, i love dark grey/silver colors.
Nice meats in the back, what tire is that and what size? |
Re: Project Lex
They are the Nitto NT05-R's. They are the 17" ones, I think 275/40/17 is the exact size, otherwise you can look on their site.
|
Re: Project Lex
I like the darker color, I want like that on my car.
|
Re: Project Lex
The dark color looks nice. Hard to disguise a good tire :)

Re: Project Lex
Well yesterday evening the car decided it wants to be a 4cyl. Right now it appears the injector drivers within the MS box for cylinders 4 & 6 have died. Have a couple tests I will do tonight to help verify this. Hopefully DIYAutotune can get me some new bits to fix this. Talking to my buddy in FL, he's ran into this before, even more so on the EV14 style injectors. No real good explanation as for why though. Kinda nice to know it's not just me, but still kinda sucks.
Aaron remember I was saying the car didn't feel as fast for some reason. I wonder if these have been intermittently dying over the past week or so, and finally kicked the bucket. Also I wonder if it is partially responsible for that strange dip in my MAP dyno chart? |
Re: Project Lex
Yeah I remember you saying that. Good luck getting it fixed
|
Re: Project Lex
Crappy, hopefully its an easy fix. wheels look good! What suspension are you on? I think dropping it a bit more would make the car look a bit more aggressive overall. No stance though plz.
