Re: E85 Injector Issues... Anyone?
gasoline cleans them up

Re: E85 Injector Issues... Anyone?
I haven't pulled my injectors yet, but I HOPE to be cleaning the fuel filter out at work tomorrow..we shall see.

Re: E85 Injector Issues... Anyone?
just gonna add this in quick, i bought some injectors used for e-85, and got that gunk build up, cleaned them the best i could with cotten swaps and some cleaner, they came out ok, but i ran gas through them for a little while now there spotless

Re: E85 Injector Issues... Anyone?
I won't have gas going through mine at all..not going back, nor do I even have a tune for it. So, now can I pull them, clean them, then put back?
|
Re: E85 Injector Issues... Anyone?
well its just an option, you could pull them, clean them the best you can, and soak the tips in gasoline for a bit, should work out i would think, i dont know what it is specificaly that actualy causes gas to clean them though.

Re: E85 Injector Issues... Anyone?
I degreed my BC 280's, it was a bitch but I seem to pull 2-4 more inches of vacuum at idle, than anyone else. Powerband seems to start around 4000-4200 rpm.
The fact that anyone advertises cams as drop in, is a farse. Quote:

Re: E85 Injector Issues... Anyone?
My PTE1200's were covered in that black tar resin shit. They had about 12K miles on them pretty much always using Holiday E85.
A couple of minutes with carb cleaner and a pick and they cleaned up nice. |
Re: E85 Injector Issues... Anyone?
Have any of you guys run seafoam though the car(or other fuel injector cleaner) on a semi regular basis? Wondering if the people not getting the build up may be using something that cleans it up, and those that are getting it don't use a cleaner.
I havn't been running said injectors, but i had some 550cc RC injectors running E-85 all last year. Mine were spotless but i switched them out to run gas this summer on 450cc injectors due to idle issues. Will be going back soon i think, but now worried about this black goo. |
Re: E85 Injector Issues... Anyone?
I had 45,000 miles of only E85 and almost 3 yrs on my PTE 1000cc injectors and only two of the injectors had very small trace amounts of black gunk, the other two were perfrect. A cotton swap and small amount of carb cleaner removed it almost instantly. I'll have to pull my FIC bluemax 1250cc injectors at the end of the summer to see if they have anything.
I mainly fill up Holiday on Foley in CR or Holiday on 96 and 35W. |
Re: E85 Injector Issues... Anyone?
Mine were clogged so bad they didn't squirt fuel and two cylinders didn't even run. Soaked the tips in maybe 1/2 oz gasoline in a plastic cup and the gas was black within 20 minutes, got new gas for a few minutes and came out clean, the tips were like brand new.
I wouldn't take the time with carb cleaner and a swab, just let them sit for a few minutes in gas. |

Re: E85 Injector Issues... Anyone?
Careful to just soak the tips. I accidentally had a bit too much gas and the bluemax paint started peeling off the sides of the injectors :(

I guess it's more prevalent with the 1200's |

Me too

Re: E85 Injector Issues... Anyone?
I've yet to find any black goop on mine. I don't do anything special like run Seafoam or anything. I've just been lucky so far I figure.

Re: E85 Injector Issues... Anyone?
I have a set of Deatschwerks 1600's I got from AMS and put almost 250 miles on them and all were clogged up with the black tar like substance, so I'm guessing it had nothing to do with the injector itself, but the E85 that I put in the car.
One of the cylinders was lean as hell, piston, valves and spark plug were pure white. As far as cleaning them I just used a can of electronics cleaner, one quick spray and all was like new again. |
Re: E85 Injector Issues... Anyone?
I soaked the tips in gasoline, and literally within like 10 mins they were clean. I guess us E85 guys might need to run a tank of regular 92 once every few months?
|
Re: E85 Injector Issues... Anyone?
That's what a lot of the link guys have said. Just run the tank really low, put in a few gallons of regular, then back to e85.
