Cyber monday, last day of best buy sales on tvs and shit. Last weekend we bought a new bed and with it (7-day delay) came a $349 best buy gift card. So, picked it up today, ran over to BB, and scouped up this baby:

Samsung 40" LCD TV, 120Hz, 80k:1 contrast ratio, 4 HDMI inputs, fills my tv stand.

32" from the living room is now going into the bedroom, I'm going to try and wire the wall for power and cable w/o cutting too many holes in the walls, house is almost 100 years old :P

$509 out the door.

Why did you take a picture of a shitty non-high def TV program? Fail. Makes the TV look tiny. Put a DVD in or something. :)

You guys are just ballers. I have one tube 30" TV in my living room.

40" isn't huge but I'd say enough for Scheides' living room. And ylime's 46" is more than enough for the two bed-chairs in her living room.

Sitting on my couch, its about 8-10' from your face to the tv, depending on how you're sitting. You guys think a 46" is too small? Eff u! a 60" won't be big enough soon :D

Ultimately for me it came down to what do I need and how much is it. That 46" was awesome bang/buck at like $999 (IIRC) for the 120hz model but in the end it wasn't worth the $200 to me, and it's a good thing; the 40" fit exactly (with like 1" to spare on each side) in anna's trunk, with the seats folded down. 46" and I would have been calling a friend :D

Bigger the better in my opinion, especially on long term purchases like this. Id rather get a non 120hz model thats 50+ over yours. To each their own. HD is amazing regardless of 720p or 1080i.

720p and 1080i are pretty much the same. 1080p is where it's at.

I'd take 720p over 1080i; 1080p is obviously the most preferable though.

It all depends on what you watch on the TV; 1080i would be just fine if all you did was watch HD TV, because to this day that is the best resolution they offer. 1080p is only really useful if you are using a Blu-Ray/PS3/Upconvert DVD Player ect. And for most gaming 90% of the games are max resolution of 720p anyway. But when I bought mine I just bought the best because I got a hell of a deal on it at Ultimate Electronics.

Dish Network's VOD (Video on Demand) is pretty sweet though; you can get Blu-Ray quality movies right through Dish Network if you have a ethernet cable plugged in. I have got a couple and they are just like a Blu-Ray movie without the $30+ cost.

Xbox 360 supports 1080p now, and most of the newer games support it too.

MW2 looks insane good on 1080p :)
