Re: New dsm to minnesota?

I want an awd auto 16g car after seeing English racings car. Wouldn't even have to be above looking one..haha.

Brandito93 03-07-2010 06:51 PM

Re: New dsm to minnesota?

And I want straight line, I like 0-60.

turbotalon1g 03-07-2010 07:04 PM

Re: New dsm to minnesota?

Then you want a 16G, slicks and AT.

Brandito93 03-07-2010 08:55 PM

Re: New dsm to minnesota?

Well the slicks I don't need I'm not gonna race my car at a drag strip. It will hook up enough especially when I get that awd but I don't think I can afford a turbo so what else you got in mind?

so you want a fast dd? i'd say, go with these mods: e316g, 272s, 800s, 255 fuel pump, e85, fmic, rebuilt trans, dsmlink, and yeah...my list just keeps going, and going and going and going...

Brandito93 03-07-2010 09:16 PM

Re: New dsm to minnesota?

And so about how much is all that shit gonna be, what's it do, god I'm so dumb mechanichally.

Constant_Project21 03-07-2010 09:32 PM

Re: New dsm to minnesota?

You need to do a lot of research before I recommend buying any turbo car, with what you just said. If you go into it blindly, you're bound to screw yourself over. Seriously, these aren't hondas, granted they're not the most complicated cars, but you need to have a decent base of info before you start modding or even buy a modded car. Unless you're some super rich kid, that has a bunch of money from your parents to blow, then take your time, cause this stuff isn't too cheap.

Re: New dsm to minnesota?

Ha my dad is a janitor and my mom a newspaper reporter so not the most money. But like I know what things do I just don't know what the things mentioned are. I know about these cars. And I was thinking and I want to get one as stock as possible and I found a silver 98, it's pretty sweet and I'll just work my way from there one part at a time, first...EXHAUST SYSTEM!!

Brandito93 03-07-2010 09:59 PM

Re: New dsm to minnesota?

I'm talking about these things (e316g, 272s, 800s, 255 fuel pump, e85, fmic)

Constant_Project21 03-07-2010 10:01 PM

Re: New dsm to minnesota?

Yea, stock would be you're best option. Learn as much about the car as possible, get your basic maintenence done, then start researching what you want to do mod wise.

awd-drifter 03-07-2010 10:26 PM

Re: New dsm to minnesota?

i'd highly suggest working with what you have first. you already have a dsm, although it's auto and fwd, learn and research with what you have engine wise.

Brandito93 03-07-2010 11:13 PM

Re: New dsm to minnesota?

Hey should I research anything? ;)

Re: New dsm to minnesota?

Re: New dsm to minnesota?

Autos are no fun :)

Re: New dsm to minnesota?

I want one because it's my dd and it would get old after awhile having to shift all the time, but i've heard they are quicker than 5 speeds, any truth to that?

TkrPerformance 03-10-2010 12:40 AM

Re: New dsm to minnesota?

you can make autos fast. that is a good find for the price

Brandito93 03-10-2010 08:31 AM

Re: New dsm to minnesota?

Ok so I want a full exhaust system but I don't want it to sound like a fart can, I want a deep throaty sound out of it. What would be a good one for that?

Ummmm any 1g turbo exhaust? It's a 4g63 man. It'll sound throaty as long as you keep a stock exhaust manifold in place.

Brandito93 03-10-2010 08:53 AM

Re: New dsm to minnesota?

I'm talking for the 98 that I will more than likely be getting.

Sorry, should've read up more. Still applies though, 4g63t's just have a low, non-rice sound to them until you start getting into tubular manifolds.

Brandito93 03-10-2010 08:59 AM

Re: New dsm to minnesota?

ah ok good to know but yea I am just looking to get a full exhaust system, manual boost controller, just some simple things to make mine quicker

TkrPerformance 03-10-2010 09:02 AM

Re: New dsm to minnesota?

tubed mani's have never changed the way my cars sound going from the stock mani

I just run 3in d.p. and 3in d.p. back on all my cars no resnators or real mufflers. I just buy the bends and straight pipe and make them my self

Brandito93 03-10-2010 09:04 AM

Re: New dsm to minnesota?

well that is something i am unable to do haha, just gotta buy the aftermarket systems still i have found some nice ones for a pretty good price

Re: New dsm to minnesota?

If you can find a Thermal R&D system go for that. They sound amazing, and not overly loud.

Re: New dsm to minnesota?

What are like some good things to put on the 98 when and hopefully if i get it like besides exhaust, i honestly have no idea what to do

that's scary. possibly research more? for now, i think you'll like having an mbc, intake, exhaust system and that's all you need. You can upgrade to an Evo 16g, evo injectors, keydriver chip, datalogger, and you're basically almost set. All those parts will cost around $42,000....FORTY-TWO THOUSAND

Those parts sound about what i'm looking at, exactly what i was thinking of doing, and then going from there, when i have the money, do something with it and yea we will see when i get it but i see lots of other things to do too i just dont know how or what to do there is just a lot of stuff i can do but like i said i dont know what to do

Yikes.

As long as the car you're picking up is driveable. Drive it and enjoy it. No sense of tearing in to it if you're not sure of the route you want to go yet.

You're right, there are a ton of things you can do to these cars. That's part of the beauty of these. As far as figuring out where you want to be, look at other people's set-up's, get a sense for what they have and their power, and you can get a sense of where you could/have to go to achieve your goals. Your list of things you want for it always seems to get longer too. But that's the beauty of a project car. It's a long term project. Take your time with choosing what parts you buy, and definitely make sure you have plenty of extra money and time.

If you end up going for the e316g towards the end of summer, send me a PM. Around that time I'll probably be upgrading.

Brandito93 03-10-2010 05:54 PM

Re: New dsm to minnesota?

Well yea everything will be long ways down the road, i have to save up a lot of money hah and i dont get too much, so i will be looking for a long time before i can even do anything

Constant_Project21 03-10-2010 05:58 PM

Re: New dsm to minnesota?

Periods, sentence structure, please use them. Just get these to start with-
•hard intake pipe, with 2gmas adapter
•Boost gauge
•wideband if you plan to do some tuning
•boost controller (keep in mind, don't go cranking it up without supporting mods, e.i. bigger injectors, at least an safc to tune, and a wideband to monitor your a/f ratios)
•full exhaust 3"
•*Not necessary* but a fmic is a pretty easy upgrade, looks nice, and adds some performance.

Learn your car inside and out, top to bottom. If you're not mechanically inclinded, you better have money, or will just have to learn to be mechanically inlinded haha.

Re: New dsm to minnesota?

Ok will do. And yea I will be looking to upgrade some sometime down the road, but for now I will be, as lingling said "driving it and enjoying it." They have plenty of power for me as is and upgrading will be something I have to look forward to.
