Re: Very Bad Vibration
Haha right on! I may bring it by on Monday. Will have to call in the morning.

Re: Very Bad Vibration
Let us know how it goes! Curious to see what the problem was.

Re: Very Bad Vibration
Any updates??

Re: Very Bad Vibration
Still waiting on the Knuckle/ trying to source one that doesn't have the axle frozen in the hub. Also picking up a new rear diff. from a GSX with no issues. Going to keep mine as a spare to learn on and keep as a backup. Should be complete by this weekend and driving Saturday night or Sunday.

Re: Very Bad Vibration
Got the knuckle and rear diff. about to put them in!
Just got it done. About to put fluids in and take for another test drive. |
Re: Very Bad Vibration
Well just got back from a test drive..the major vibration is gone but there is still one. Happens only under throttle, goes away if clutch is pushed in. Feels like it could be coming from the front drivers side. or somewhere in the front. I swapped out the carrier bearing/axle for one from a 2ga and remember the axle having a weird fitment. Will post a pic tomorrow of it but any ideas?
Thanks |
Re: Very Bad Vibration
How did the axle have a weird fitment?
|
Re: Very Bad Vibration
Looked like it went all the way in with the auto axle but the bracket didn't line up with the block so I changed it for a 2ga 5 speed one which fit to the block but didn't look like the axle was fully seated in the tranny. No leaks or anything. Just a little farther out than the auto one.
Vibration now starts to happen under light to mild throttle and right around 30 mph. Coming from what seems like the front. Will post a pic of said axle and a video of this vibration/ noise |
Re: Very Bad Vibration
Going to be checking the drivers cv axle. Really seems to be coming from the front left
|
Re: Very Bad Vibration
Think I found the problem, unless this sounds normal.
I can crab the axle (between carrier and hub) and move it around, up, down and a little bit towards carrier then towards hub. I thought it was excessive play. Here's the vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ttie5vivUdw |
Re: Very Bad Vibration
Yeah that doesn't look good to me. I was also going to suggest checking for axle play on the hub side I've had an axle come out and just spin in there enough to grind the teeth was a very bad vibration but mostly noticed that under wot like clutch slip with grinds and vibration
|
Re: Very Bad Vibration
Yea it makes a clicking noise too when I spin the wheel just like the noise when driving. What would cause that?
|
Re: Very Bad Vibration
Take the boot off and u will have ur answer. It probably popped out
|
Re: Very Bad Vibration
Or the bearing is toast. U can rebuild that carrier. Do u have the spacer between the carrier and block?
|
Re: Very Bad Vibration
Ok. Will do, but if I was spinning the wheel wouldn't the other wheel not spin if it did pop out?
Also it's not grinding. |
Re: Very Bad Vibration
1 Attachment(s)
well one of the bearings fell off from inside the cup right before the carrier. Lost all of its needle bearings and i'm guessing causing the vibration.
|
Re: Very Bad Vibration
That will cause a vibration for sure.
|
Re: Very Bad Vibration
:angryfire:well just swapped it out for another one and the problem still persists.
Going to look at driveshaft hangers now. really hope it's not them. |
Re: Very Bad Vibration
Doesn't look like the driveshaft is moving around when the vibration happens.
In the video you can see the t-case move (14 sec.) when the vibration starts to happen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBSY...ature=youtu.be |
Re: Very Bad Vibration
not just the t case is moving. are you sure all the motor mounts are tight. any clutch drag issues. if motor mounts all look good i may be taking the trans out next
