Re: My 95 talon
Thats weird, I was literally just looking at this manifold right before I looked at this thread. I have seen one before, it looked alright, but a few people weren't really impressed with the quality. There could be a few good welders in the state that could make you a better manifold, but at the price it should be a pretty decent manifold.

Re: My 95 talon
Chris said they didn't wanna prototype it. Lol.

Re: My 95 talon
I was told by a few guys at MAP, that manifold makes turbos smoke because oil gets past the exhaust seal because the turbo is diagonal. Although I've never had any experience with one.

Re: My 95 talon
Looks like it should be on a drag only care anyways, so a little smoke shouldn't matter. :)

Re: My 95 talon
FFM is the new trend for 2012, like the top mount was '09-'10.
They looks hot!! Nick, check out the white 2G that STM did, its sick. Oh because Jim loves that car and didn't want to sell it. |
Re: My 95 talon
FFM was the trend for Hondas and Evos a couple years ago. Nice way to ruin a motor on a street car by sucking in sand all day long.

As far as Jim being sad he'll still be able to drive it! |

Re: My 95 talon
Forward Facing seems sketchy for the street unless you can run a good filter on it still.
It will eat a lot of dirt fast, screens only keep it from failing catastrophic. They do nothing for longevity. just a bit of dirt will eat those blades up and wear them down quickly and then all that shit goes in the motor. Strictly drag car then its OK, but no way you don't roll that on the street. :D |

It's been years since I have seen those rods and pistons. Check the wiseco's skirt area to pin boss area for cracks. These are not HD pistons and they are some of the first 2.4 design. |
Re: My 95 talon
Jim thats why I posted up pics, figured its been a while! LOL I looked it over and from what I could see they looked fine. John (pushit2.0) is gonna check everything over and install he new crank, rod bearing, main bearings and rings. So if he said there bad Ill be getting rods and pistons. BTW the walls in the block still look new!

Re: My 95 talon
Damn, that's scary.

Re: My 95 talon
Hard to tell for sure from the photo but the rod and main journals look pretty good. That was an old motor, really too bad the crank snapped.
LaCroix helped me with the first timing belt I have ever done many years back on that motor. :) Bet that was 7 or more years ago. |
Re: My 95 talon
Word. There wasn't scoring or anything on the crank journals and there was really only 1 questionable bearing. Well Johns gone slap the short block together, haven't asked if I could hang around for the process but we'll see. Then Brad said he'd rip up and get the timing stuff done.
Unfortanetlly though Im running low on funds ATM, so I picked up a 20G turbo, I know small for the 2.4 setup L19 and permatorque, but like you said earlier I may spend that money on rods and piston since there prolly gonna be the weak point of the build, instead of the 6262 setup. Also I wanna address the head stuff too, like lifters, springs, porting, and what not. I need to get a trans rebuilt too. So for now the time being Im gonna get this thing solid and flowing a shit ton of air so I can be confident the 6262 will perform and spool awesome! Plus the car will be done for sure by spring if I dont have to save money up for the turbo set-up. Bottom line, I just really miss driving this car! |
Re: My 95 talon
Check out the vtec CL ad thread on here, some guy is selling a 6262 with a warranty for $650.
