I love your positive attitude man! You sure you didn't just drop a screwdriver in the timing area just to give yourself an excuse to build this thing? :D

Well keep us up to date, good luck!

Fucking interference engines... That's all I have to say. :( Let me know if you ever need a hand turning wrenches.

It's called anger management. It's just a car, they break, especially if you mod them. It's not like you or wife just got diagnosed with cancer.

Unless it's a VW, then you can kick in the door and never think twice about that. They deserve it.

Re: '03 BBY Evo

Finished stripping the motor down to nothing this past weekend. Block seems to be ok but there was a sligh scratch on cyl 1 and a little nick on cyl 4, 3 and 2 looked perfect though. There was one chunk of metal found, which appeared to part of the #1 piston that had a hole in it. No metal shavings in the bottom end is nice so the oil cooler/turbo aren't full of shit. Probably could have just ball honed it and threw some rods/pistons in it but then I'd want to throw a huge shot at it knowing me then I'd break something else:beer:

Thought this was kind of cool

I've purchased a stock long block for 2k shipped that I am hoping will be here by the end of the week or early next week so I can get a running car again. I will be slapping the stock turbo on there and just driving the damn thing till its paid off. Maybe get a lip or some stupid little crap but nothing cool.

After I can get it paid off I'll either build this block and make this thing quick or get another dsm for a track type of car.

Just a boring update but probably the last one I'll do for a while.

So are you gonna keep your extra shortblock on the side for a later date?

C3L1CA 04-19-2011 02:01 PM

Re: '03 BBY Evo

Yep the short block is just sitting. After its paid off I'll either build that block for the evo if I decide to go that route with the evo or sell it and use the money for a new project car.

As much as i want to push it it SUCKS not having a daily to get to work everyday and having to bum rides with the GF or riding the bike in these 30 degree mornings haha.

Buy a beater, you need to play with your evo.

Re: '03 BBY Evo

Finally got my "stock and factory sealed" long block yesterday from awd motorsports. Looking it over it has arp headstuds and had gates racing timing and balance shaft belts. Makes me a little worried but as long as it runs and doesn't leak I dont really care what's done to it.

Put my gsc s2 cams in it along with the gsc springs as well last night. I was actually surprised when my gf came and helped haha. Hoping to have a running car by the end of the week.

Re: '03 BBY Evo

Have well over 1k miles on the thing so far and so far so good. Nothing done to it really other than the stuff that was on it before. It's pretty fun for a daily driver, put it up for sale for a while but decided to hang on to it for now.

Blacked out the headlights today on my day off along with painted all the grills and hood vent cover a semi-gloss black and tinted the rear side markers. Just need to get a vinyl overlay for the emblem and I think I'll be done with all the cheaper look mods I can do to it. Want to paint the wheels a semi gloss black and paint the calipers bby but that will be for another day. Maybe when I'm layed off as the state can't decide a budget:2strangle:

Steady as she goes! Glad you got it back on the road quickly. Was it done on dyno day? I meant to ask for a ride but I got distracted. She's looking good, keep having fun with it, finally we have the weather for it!

Re: '03 BBY Evo

Thanks fellas!

It was running for the dyno day but I was too paranoid to drive it up there. It was only running for a week before then and the timing belt had a slight movement when rpm's changed dramatically. This freaked my paranoid self out and didn't want to pay for another tow from the other side of the cities. Another evo guy on here checked his and said it was normal so it could've been but I was too paranoid.

Re: '03 BBY Evo

Shane is the man! Had an old winter blend corn tune on it and hasn't been back on the dyno since real corn has come out and the new stock motor was put in. Shane picked up a few ponies and the drive ability is perfect! This is with 2 bad 02 sensors too. Thanks again Shane!

All a baby 8 turbo.

Nice numbers!

I've been wondering what the real E85 would do to my numbers since it has leaned out from 11.2 to 12.2 When my axle is fixed and my new parts come in maybe I should swing by and see. :)

Badass! I love the torque; yummy! Glad she's running good for ya, enjoy!

Re: '03 BBY Evo

The replacement motor was a little bit laggier than his old one, but it still make great power. Might be the highest HP stock 8 turbo Evo that I have had on the dyno.

Re: '03 BBY Evo

Damn, awesome power for an 8 turbo!

Re: '03 BBY Evo

Did you have any other changes aside from your refreshed motor and real E85?

C3L1CA 07-14-2011 02:28 PM

Re: '03 BBY Evo

Nope no changes other than real e85. The motor wasn't refreshed, since I destroyed my last long block I picked up a used long block with 70kish miles on it and dropped it in
