I think I'll pick some flexible ABS plastic this spring and try a homemade lip from my 1G as well.

Re: after 10 years its coming back to life

you can get it at ace hardware or home depot you can get black from there. You can order white, red, blue off amazon
you can also get it here http://www.dipyourcar.com/ they sell clear coat for it also so it is shiny and not flat and premixed and thinned gal cans so you can spray it

got them all back on the car now. They look so much better of the takata green. I will have them powder coated when I need to buy new tires some time but the tires dont have many miles on them so at least a few summers left.

thanks kevin. now just to get it to run on SD. then up for an aliment then to shane for a tune. It is getting there it is so nice to see it back together after all these years. Hell Aly has never been for a ride in the car. I took it apart before we started dating 10 years ago.

also the new front diffuser for the 2gb talon bumper is being made this week and will be here next week :)

I had to raise the car it was to low for the new rims I raised the back 1/2in and front 1/4in so the tires will not get cut up on the fenders and qt. panels. That and the car is sitting in a low spot in the drive way on the drivers side.

I have new arms from the parts cars. For the cowl just need to get some bumper stripper to get the white paint off

There ya go, do that and hit it with some back to black. Will look nicer IMO. I did the same thing to one of my cars and it looks so much better vs re-painting it black.

Re: after 10 years its coming back to life

well time for a huge update on the spyder. After sitting for over 10 years now it is alive. Got the wiring problems fixed, put in a new coil pack (the one in it was very weak) put in a new temp sensor also.

It is running right now on e85 1600cc injectors and the stock mas. just have to plug the SD back in and make the changes in link.

It is leaking from the drain tube at the turbo right now but that is a easy fix. Then just have to get an aliment and have it tuned then it can be my d.d. since Aly and I have been sharing the 01 mirage since I sold the hatch months ago.

Got new gaskets on the drain tube no more oil leaks. Got it running on the SD set up. But now I have to pull the tranny back out of the car. It can be shifted into 3rd and 4th gear when it is running with out the clutch and there is nothing there all the other gears are fine. Just sucks but the tranny was a free be.

Re: after 10 years its coming back to life

Pulled the tranny out when I got home from work this afternoon. The 3rd/4th shift fork has seen better days. Just need to find one then it will be ready to go.

Yep. Sucks to have to pull it back apart. But I ordered a new fork this mooring from jacks. So soon it will be ready to drive.

Re: after 10 years its coming back to life

Got the new clutch fork from jacks on sat. Also brought the tranny to work to clean it up on sat. It is now all back together and painted with alum paint. Craig is going to give me a hand getting it back in tomorrow.

Re: after 10 years its coming back to life

got the polly front and rear roll stop mounts. I had to stop working on a kids car to put them right into the spyder
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...606_152020.jpg
this is why I got them
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...606_152032.jpg
font rubber burned out and polly put in
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...606_155024.jpg
got it in nice and easy and marked the mount so it was in the right spot to start with
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...606_174914.jpg
on to the rear mount cut the old mount with the sawsall and got it out. pressed in the the alum outer ring.
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...606_171814.jpg
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...606_171911.jpg
put in the car. also was not to bad to get it back in. It is so nice to have all 4 polly mounts now just like all the other cars

Re: after 10 years its coming back to life

Got a set of black 3G Spyder belts from Ben (ben4g63t) whe he went to the junk yard. Got to work on them a little bit today. I took apart one of my extra tan front belts out of the 2g mount. Then took apart the 3G belt they do not come apart easy like the 2g did. Had to cut the frame apart and use a hammer and chisel on the alum drum for the belt it self. Tomorrow I will dye the faded front belts back to black.
Black 3G belts
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...610_185029.jpg
What is left of one of the front 3G belt cages
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...610_185306.jpg
The black belt out and ready to be dyed black since it is faded out
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...610_185454.jpg
The 2g belt out of the cage and the cage being held with some metal so I just have to put the black belt in it and it will wind it back up.

Re: after 10 years its coming back to life

Forgot yesterday I drove the spyder into the garage. It is the first time it has been driven in almost 11 years :) even though it was a short drive it still was great to do it.

Today I. Got the rear black seat belts swapped into the the spyder rear belt brackets. It has not had rear seat belts in it for ever since I would not let anyone sit in the back since it is not really a real seat any way.
One done one to go
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...611_113355.jpg
Both in the car
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...611_144842.jpg
Now all that is tan is the rear seat. Just have to find a black leather or fabric don't care any more out of any gen spyder since they will all fit in it

Re: after 10 years its coming back to life

All the seat belts are now in the car. Just have to get rid of the tan rear seat now.

http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...612_172727.jpg
Also picked up a 3g eclispe master and booster for when I upgrade to brembos all the way around. Just need to get 2 fittings and a 2ft 3an s.s. line to make it work
