Re: joel's build
This cool a weather you shouldn't have any issues, I know a guy selling a dual water temp/oil psi gauge.....
|
Re: joel's build
I have a computer that should plug into your car that lets me look at your sensors and will tell me what your temp really is. Its obd2. I use it check engine code and air bag codes. It reads every engine sensor.
|
Re: joel's build
What FMIC are you running? Mine always ran hot. I ran around a 75/25 water to coolant mix with water wetter to try and help keep temps low. I switched to a less dense (ETS) FMIC which also helped.
|
Re: joel's build
I also have a scan tool that should work we could plug in and see what's going on
|
Re: joel's build
I have a punishment racing fmic. It's not a very thick core.
The weather never played a big part in it. Even in the winter. It has done it forever. it really sucks on the road coarse I have to lift and coast because it gets really warm when beating the shit out of it. 4seasons69, let me know when you could hook it up. My cel is on but I have a feeling it's because I deleted all the egr sensors. |
Re: joel's build
Are you just tuned on the stock 99 ecu? If so and you have a laptop I'd pick up a tactrix cable so you can log and look at stuff. You can usually find them for sale used on evom or if you're cheap like me you can search nationally through craigslist and hopefully find a good deal from an honest guy who will ship.
Either way nice job on getting it going, hopefully makes some good numbers! |
Re: joel's build
I have a Tactrix 2.0 floating around somewhere. I think Pat still has it.
|
Re: joel's build
I should be up there on Thursday evening to work on my car so we can on Thursday. My number is 651-983-1230 text me Thursday and remind me to bring it home from work with me.
|
Re: joel's build
I am going to look into the tractrix cable that would be really nice to be able to
do. Also ill look like Brian Spilner. |
Re: joel's build
Well turbo will be here sometime this week. I am excited to bolt it on and see what Shane can do with it on Monday.
Extended tip billet 20g wheel tdo6h4 turbine with a machined hot side. Hx 35 W/G It should be able to pack some heat. http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k4...psdabae7a8.jpg |

Re: joel's build
Nice, monday as in tomorrow?
Text me with some updates! |
Re: joel's build
4seasons is getting his car tuned tomorrow. What you hoping to make?
|
Re: joel's build
No sorry Monday the 29th.
On DB's dyno I am hoping 370-400ish... To be honest I have no clue what it is going to make. I have not seen any numbers out of this kind of turbo. Ill be happy with anything over 350. |
Re: joel's build
Well turbo is installed and ready to go messed with the boost controller a little to see how it responded. I backed it way out thinking it would creep like crazy and it only made 10lbs. Turned it in a few turns an am making 17.
The boost seems to come on very gradually. I am running a very rich 10.5 afr so all seems well. Excited to strap it on the rollers and start cranking up the boost. |
Re: joel's build
NIIIIICCCCCEEEE!!!!
|
Re: joel's build
No good today on the dyno. Couldn't make any more then 22lbs of boost on the dyno and was spooling as bas bad as a 6262. Waste gate was opening by itself even with tue wastegate unplugged.
Anyone have a torch? We could have a dsm bonfire!!! I have two hx wastegates that I am doing to try. Hope it will work. |
Re: joel's build
Hole in the wastegate actuator rubber? That sucks man, hope you get the issue resolved. How much power did it make on 22psi?
|
Re: joel's build
That sucks Joel, hopefully it's an easy fix!
|
Re: joel's build
299hp.
I have a holset wastegate I am going to use. I am going to drop the car back off at DB and just have them fab up a shaft and bracket. I am so tired of working on it. |
Re: joel's build
Shitty man. FP has these. Maybe you can try one of them?
|
Re: joel's build
Might have to. Depending if they are going to charge a shit ton to make mine work.

Sorry to hear it didn't go to well! Just stick with it you'll get it figured out and working how you want |
Re: joel's build
Who built the turbo? I'd be on the phone with them asap to figure out what the deal is.

Re: joel's build
Its wasn't the turbo so I cant really blame them for it yet... the wastage they gave me didn't fit with my j pipe, and because I was in a time crunch I just put the one that was on my evo3. It was blowing the wastage open even with it unplugged. So need to get a stronger WG on and then it should be good. I hope.

Re: joel's build
Shitty.
|
Re: joel's build
BOOM!!!!! Went the transmission.... dam the just fell apart accelerating in 3rd.
|
Re: joel's build
What's the plan now anyways?
|
Re: joel's build
He's pulling it apart this weekend check to see if its actually built and fixing;).
The way he made it sound built trans just don't break like that, at least at his power level. |
Re: joel's build
^X2
|
Re: joel's build
Reduild and fix it. Going to start pulling it apart tomorrow.
|
Re: joel's build
Dude! Sorry to hear about your trans. I also find it suspect that 4th went like it did. IIRC someone else had an issue with their TRE on here. Maybe they can chime in on their customer service side of things?
|
Re: joel's build
Jon is great to work with on resolving issues imo. Since you bought it used, you can't really expect him to warranty anything, but he should be able to identify if its one of his transmissions or not.
|
Re: joel's build
I think it is going to go to shep.
|
Re: joel's build
I choose Shep or Jack's if I had to, probably Jack's.
|
Re: joel's build
If this is a poll. I vote jack's.
Blackrosenova could probably get ya back up and have a solid trans to. Buy jets and swap cases. |
Re: joel's build
sorry to hear bad new man :/
|
Re: joel's build
Thanks for recommending me!
These transmissions are heartbreakers. Its sucks too because 3/4 tend to strip out at high loads and tend to take out other gears with them. You can shim the shafts tigher so the gears have a harder time seperating from each other under heavy load, but it will only help so much, plus more heat is generated with bearing tolerances set tighter. Jon at Tre Transmissions is a good guy. You can tell he is knowledgable and passionate about his work, and is pretty sold on the idea of shotpeening gearsets. Quote:

Re: joel's build
Trans is out and will be shipped out to shep next week. Its going to be tight on making it to proving groumds. Dont think ill make it.
