They came around and believe me now, once they saw the weight. The tensioner itself weighs a couple pounds so it obviously was not in this 0.90lb shipment. They are going to issue me a refund at some point here.

Onwards and upwards now. Hopefully have it all back together and driving in the next couple days :)

New cool key :) Local guy that i do some of the solidworks/cad stuff with, he designed a key blank. Had a bunch made from SS. Had a guy on FB cut it for me, i sent him a photo of me key and he was able to decode it just from a photo lol. Anyway kinda cool :)

Sweet! Kinda crazy he could decode the key from a picture lol.

I just replaced my exterior door knobs on my house and had them re - keyed and the guy said he could cut a key just by looking at it. After watching him do it I can see why.

Nothing to huge to report. But we're done with the pump tune. Slowly starting to mix in e85 and turn it up. We're at about 20psi now on ~e60. So far so good. I know this graph isn't going to be all that accurate, but gives a general idea. Not to bad for e60 at 20psi :) Plenty of room left to keep going!!

Also, I got a Tilton slip valve. Currently it's installed with the smallest pill. Going to be trying it out for awhile here and hopefully helps me better my terrible 60ft's at the strip!

Haven't had a ton of time on this car, but got some logs in today. I think we're already maxing out the flow of this new turbo. Here's a screen shot. You can see the boost pressure tapering off quite a bit (bright green line). But airflow is pretty steady & flat (aqua blue line). So we will still continue to up the boost but I think it'll only really make more boost early on, because at like 7000rpm and beyond I don't think it's going to flow much more actual air.

AEM shows a 710hp estimate. For comparison last year when I made 709hp @ DB, AEM estimated roughly 630hp. So a 70-80hp difference then, so if it's similar on the new setup that means I should be somewhere around 780ish or so. We will see, someday I'm going to get it on the dyno.

Dyno @ DB 9/11 @ 10am with Danny on their DynoJet!!

Street tuning is 99% done. I'm going to send Vlad one last log to verify but I think we are done! Five Boost settings (WG ~16psi ; 19psi ; 22psi ; 26psi ; AllThePSI ~30). Last year I had Vlad do some final dialing in on the dyno to squeeze out everything we could. This year I'm not going to do that. We got it running full steam, it's dialed in good and safe, I just don't feel the need to spend more time/money/energy to squeeze maybe another 10hp or something out of it with the help of the dyno. So I'm just going to go to DB to do some pulls just to see how it does, no tuning or anything. Based on what I'm seeing in AEM and the butt dyno, I'm hoping for right around 775hp, we shall see!

Also I got some new under trays from Z30 Concepts. I'm missing a factory piece to finish bolting up the rear. Once I have that it'll be buttoned up. But very happy with the fit n finish. Gave me a great price since I ordered the full set.

Kracka 08-22-2018 08:17 AM

Re: Project Lex

Definitely like that undertray, that's cool. Should be very beneficial as well. I know there was a huge difference in aero, cooling, and road noise with the factory Evo undertrays removed.

Halon 08-22-2018 09:25 AM

Re: Project Lex

Thanks. I paid $198 shipped for the whole undertray setup. It's super lightweight so won't add any noticeable weight. Very happy with it.

Thoughts on flipping that front panel upside-down to draw air out of the engine bay rather than push air in?

OMG do I really need to explain irrelevant things about my photos? I thought we were beyond that now a days.

- I used 2 jack stands. I removed the passenger side one, I moved the jack over to remove the driver side (you can even see the jack is over there). Realized 'oh lemme grab a photo quick'. Took said photo, then lowered / removed the other side.

I had the same thought (mine has the vent blades facing down and back to draw air out of the engine bay). Not sure how far those blades would stick down though. Plus it might not be symmetrical?

Regardless, undertrays make a big difference, looks like a nice piece!

Interwebs is serious business. It's not acceptable for you to post a pic like that without captions explaining yourself. How dare you!

lol just looked a bit hairy! You get so riled up hahah

Re: Project Lex

I could flip it over, I think it is symmetrical. I assume he meant for it to be this way because it's the side his logo is on. I did a quick look at the other company that makes one, and their's appears to be similar in nature. These are the two options for this car basically.

http://lrbspeed.com/wp-content/uploa...2/DSCN6724.jpg

Here's a picture of the oem one I think (i never had one since I've owned the car).

https://picclick.com/92-00-LEXUS-SC3...l#&gid=1&pid=1

To be honest I got it mainly to just cover up the bottom so things don't fly up in the engine area, and just protect in general. And also contain any minor leaks and what not. I didn't really get it for any sort of airflow/cooling reasons. If I could have gotten it with no louvers I probably would have gotten that actually. So the actual louver design doesn't mean a whole lot to me. But I do see what you mean. It'd make more sense for them to be sticking outward instead of inward. Doesn't even seem like they do much going inward other than maybe allowing a small amount of air in.

Kracka 08-22-2018 04:46 PM

Re: Project Lex

I'd set them up the same orientation as stock to keep the airflow factory-ish. Having a hard time figuring out the OEM tray airflow path, seems to look different depending on the pic!

Dyno today at DB made 812/737. Not too shabby! Dyno graph comparing last year to this year. More power everywhere!

Re: Project Lex

Car makes way more power across the board, is that because of the new engine or was boost being limited before up top? Looks like it used to spike a bit then taper down with the old motor.

Nice job! Good luck at PG2!

Re: Project Lex

Yeah there's something wrong with this site where you can't enlarge thumbnail attachments.

As for the improvements. Well the larger turbo is responsible for the added power.

The increased power band I think is a few things. I think first is the vvti, that is known to make a big difference, the number 500rpm is thrown around a bit and that's nearly exactly what the chart is showing. I think that is 90% responsible for it. Also the fact that this turbo is newer tech. When I bought it from Geoff at FR he said that it should spool similar as my old smaller turbo, even tho it's larger, and that is due to the better design of the SX-E. So that allowed for more power without sacraficing response. Lastly I'd say the head-work. The pocket port and cams I think make this new head flow much better, and that's why the car makes good power at similar boost levels as last year. Also the Manley springs/retainers allows for 8k redline where as the old setup I didn't feel comfortable over 7500.

I just recently got gaped by mustang...from a roll, was pretty traumatic...ill catch him on dig run someday lol. It was a beautiful car. This forum seems to have more none mitsu action happening, its tempting to want to jump ship seeing all these great results.

Why is the graph so jumpy towards the back half? Car sounds smooth and doesnt seem to be braking up...no spark blow out nothing hmmm
