Re: House Projects
I had a floor, kitchen, and bathroom guy out last night. Very nice guy, appears to do quality work...basically a side business for him in addition to his firefighter job. He's going to get started next week by replacing some cracked floor tiles in my kitchen, do a few more odds & ends (sinks, faucets, vanity, etc.), then get started on a master bathroom refresh for me within a few weeks once he gets a few custom pieces ordered.
I'm toying with the idea of selling vs. staying once my list of updates is done. I've been eyeing up some new construction, but I'm not sure if I want the additional commute (my current 7-mile is pretty nice!). I think I'll hold off on a final decision until my current projects are done to see how they turn out, and if I'm happy with them. |

So starting april we will be breaking ground on our new deck.
Last fall i tore out the existing structure to hopefully get the footings dug and filled and inspected. But due to weather it didnt work out. We are creating a deck that will wrap around the back of the house that will be much bigger. Looking at a number of different woods for the decking material. Ipe vs Tigerwood vs Cumaru, The latter two being less expensive but still pretty hard on the hardness scale and will hold up for 25+ years. Tigerwood looks awesome and cumaru has more of a reddish tone to it which i like as well. Anyways ill try to keep updating on progress of this. The Contractor i am using is DunRight Remodeling. Last year I had a 40x60 pole building built to have a place to work on all my projects. I had the floor poured and then I installed the electrical panel and meter socket as well last year. Xcel energy hooked up the power in late fall and then it sat over the winter.
http://s8.postimg.org/cy14onnhh/front.jpg http://s8.postimg.org/947ofi65h/side.jpg This year I've begun coating the floor with epoxy. I decided to go with white coated with clear to brighten it up and make it easy to find small parts that get dropped. To make the coating as even as possible, I'm coating each 10x10 area that is separated by relief cuts separately. Once the white is all applied and cured the whole floor will be gone over with an abrasive pad to prep it for the clear coat. http://s8.postimg.org/6o5v1no2t/floor.jpg Once the floor is finished I'll begin sealing all the leaks up in the walls and roof. I watched where the building let in snow in the winter and rain in the spring so I'll deal with those and then begin electrical and finishing and insulating the interior. My hope is to get it completed this year. |
Re: House Projects
^That's awesome!

Re: House Projects
Dude, you need to spray foam that building. It will water proof it, seal all air leaks and give you good insulation. Winning all around. Big shops FTW!

Re: House Projects
Unreal poll building! Super awesome, I would love to have a little more land and the ability to build a super sized shop. Nice work.

Re: House Projects
The pole shed looks great! I built a 40x80 shed with our new house in 2013, but other than adding some lights and garage door openers, I haven't done much with it. I like the epoxy coating and I'll need to insulate it eventually. Add some more pics when you are done with each phase.

Re: House Projects
^ I plan to keep the pics updated as work progresses.
I'm curious if you have any issues with leaks in yours and if any steps were taken to seal things up when yours was built. I used great stuff foam to seal up the bottom of my building where the siding ribs meet the flashing on the grade board. I've realized that there are multiple leaks that drained out that area. Now they drain out on to the floor. :madashell: I have to go through and seal all the siding joints now. |

Re: House Projects
I just found out I am getting a decent sized "relocation" check from my work for moving to fargo. I will be doing quite a few small items around my house to clean it up to get ready to list it. I don't think it will be anything major but if I do I will post something up.
Sad that I just built a great new deck and won't get to really use it :( Oh, if anyone is looking for a house in blaine or knows anyone that would be interested please let me know. I will toss someone a finder fee if they buy :) |
