+1 I say find a 5-speed thats in rough (but useable shape), get it rebuilt, and get the conversion kit, might be the best option at this point.

Re: Project P00n (Exotic Killer)

Do I have to get one with ACD since I have a IX? How does that work? Also is my clutch going to work with the 5 speed?

Re: Project P00n (Exotic Killer)

ACD is the xfer case, which bolts to the trans, not a part of the trans. Keep in mind 03-04 have no front LSD. If you can find one out of an 05 they are semi-saught after b/c of front LSD and the taller 4th gear (taller than an IX anyways). Not sure on the clutch/flywheel but since ACT doesn't sell a '6-speed' option I'm assuming they're the same (but don't quote me).

OK Long time coming. The car went to DB and to make a long story short it got a used 6 speed with 20k miles from a guy in Chicago. The car had a few issues after this but Shane was very cool and helped me out A LOT, very happy with my experience there. While the tranny was out I went ahead and got a new clutch disc and resurfaced the flywheel.

Was going too dyno it for speed density but there was a boost leak and Shane ran out of time on the dyno. The good news is it still made 315AWHP with 2-3PSI less boost! So no doubt the engine is healthy.

I think since the turbo and engine are healthy it's time to treat the car with an E85 tune, my goal is 380AWHP at DB with the stock turbo. With my headwork and all my shit ported + my cams and a 9k red line, the car is gonna be ridic. The instant spool is amazing in that car.

Other than that the car was dropped off at a body shop tonight. EVERY ding is getting fixed. It has a brand new SE lip, a new trunk lid and a perfect shape VIII spoiler being installed. In addition the rear trunk is getting shaved so there's no keyhole. The car is gonna be baller again.

Sad to say I think he's gonna stay in storage a lot more than the past, it's getting old and I'm growing more attached to it. I want it to stay fresh. I plan on buying Scheides old interior as well and getting the doors retinted. This year is the Evo's year.

It's irrelevant, nothing MAJOR I'm just tired of it's bullshit, time to go with something practical.

Shawn, a basic pump gas stock turbo build IS practical, in the grand scheme of things. Sure, when the car doesn't drive, it's the easiest thing in the world to just say fuck it and get rid of it. But I'm not going to lie to you, the look on your face when you came in to show me that you'd gotten the car back is one I haven't seen since the Subaru first drove without issue. Whether you want to admit it right now or not, that car makes you happy, and you know damn well that you didn't wait 210 days just to sell it. Just fix the clutch and drive it.

The clutch is fixed Spaz, it's outside right now waiting for me to drive it.

I'm thinking a 90's 2.2L subaru impreza, the EJ22 was a great block that lasts forever and I know everything about that car. I can probably find a OBS (outback sport) for $1500 or so.

Re: Project P00n (Exotic Killer)

If you actually get out, get out for real. No more cars you know everything about, no more mods...something newer that you'll actually just drive and leave alone and will need nothing more than tires and fluids. Anything Subaru or Mitsu and you'll be right back in this same position in a year.

With that said, your Evo is awesome and is a great setup, I'll be very sad to see it go if you really do sell it :(

Buy a Viper.

There is an issue with people like us. We enjoy cars, and probably always will admire some kind of automotive artwork. Keeping that in mind, if you sell your fun car, and get sheeple car, you'll be fine until you see... another car that was like yours, looking awesome, slowly cruise by. Or when you drive on a perfect summer day, seeing all the other modified cars driving around with their glowing, proud owners. You'll want another "one," whatever it may be: Something to waste money, something to occupy your time, something to put a smile on your face, and something to r4p3 with.

I had a 1G DSM I really loved, I sold it trying to get out... and sure enough, months later I couldn't resist another car I've secretly always wanted.

If you get out, I'd say disown all your friends, burn your car porn, move to Africa, and never surf the web EVAR again.
