Re: Project Winter Beater
Just about a completed harness:
http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...redotheygo.jpg Have to solder up a few things, test fit it in the car and then fix anything else I see. After the engine harness, I get to work on moving the fuse box.... :( |
Re: Project Winter Beater
Nice work.

Re: Project Winter Beater
Thanks. It's pretty tedious work but it's not bad once you get into it.
|
Re: Project Winter Beater
What all did you take out of the harness? I'm guessing the brake fluid sensor and whatever else is pretty worthless along the firewall. Was it hard to get the harness out? I might be doing this to my car now.

Re: Project Winter Beater
Mounted the 99.9% finished harness in the engine bay tonight. Have to modify the hole a little bit so the plug fits, but I'm happy with the results:

Once I have my transmission installed again I will have the starter harness in there as well. But that's all you will see as far as engine bay wires. |
Re: Project Winter Beater
Very nice. I like how you ran it through the other side of the intake manifold.

I finished hooking the entire engine harness up. Besides the plugs which go to the fuse box, this is what the engine bay looks like with everything hooked up: http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...m/SDC11285.JPG Here's where I ran the plug for the wiper motor: http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...m/SDC11287.JPG One more pic behind the motor: http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...m/SDC11284.JPG Anybody want to donate a shit-ton of wire? Looking at just the main fuse box harness, I have over 40 wires to cut and extend about 7.5 feet. |
Re: Project Winter Beater
Good luck on the fuse box. I decided I'm just gonna leave mine where it is. What are you gonna do to plug the whole up where the harness used to be?

Re: Project Winter Beater
I've decided to leave the fuse box alone for the time being. Just have to extend a few more wires and it'll be done as far as wiring goes.
http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...m/SDC11290.JPG Here's the plug I used. It's the same one I used in my Laser's stock sidemount hole: http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...m/SDC11291.JPG |
Re: Project Winter Beater
The fuse box really doesn't look all that bad. Sometimes I think of just putting mine back in the stock location. Just gotta shine it all up.

Not to mention it won't get wet there, and I can easily access it.....unlike my Laser....lol |
Re: Project Winter Beater
The wiring looks super clean as-is! I say leave the fuse box, keep it functional/easy to access. Where do people normally put it? Where the stock SMIC goes?

I'm going to leave it in the stock location on my Talon. Like you said, easy access, dry, and still looks very noice. :) |
Re: Project Winter Beater
wow nice work on this thing, it looks like it went into decent hands, the bullet holes were really fuckin cool i loved those when i got the car lol
