Re: 2006 Corvette
Not sure when the guy is going to get back to me about those brakes, maybe he decided not to sell them anymore. Anyway, it's been a long time since I posted an official update.
First thing I wanted to do was get the z06 bi-mode exhaust installed. The new X pipe and mufflers are full 3" from the header collectors back, instead of the old 2.5" with the Corsa. Old vs new X pipe: http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/.../exhaust_2.jpg New muffler on left, you can see the vacuum actuator which opens the valve for straight through mode: http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/.../exhaust_1.jpg To get the actuators to work on-demand I had to install a controller box in the rear bumper area, and route a vacuum line from the intake manifold. The homelink visor buttons which control garage doors operate on the same frequency, so I setup the middle button for quiet mode, and the third button for loud mode. When you open it up at a stoplight you can hear it get a lot deeper and rumbly. Next up was painting the ugly gray aftermarket intake manifold. I wanted to paint it black for a stock/sleeper look. Before: http://i322.photobucket.com/albums/n...222_225834.jpg Got intake manifold off: http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...intake_off.jpg Intake apart: http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...take_apart.jpg Painting: http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...ke_painted.jpg Installed: http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...ngine_bay1.jpg Next up was the harmonic balancer. The car had a 25% underdrive pulley which I think was causing some weird issues, maybe with the alternator spinning slower. Also it was a solid metal pulley with no damping ability, so I went with a stock diameter ATI superdamper pulley. I got the old bolt out and was afraid I took out a piece of the crank, but it turns out it was just some loctite hardened: http://www.dsmstyle.com/photopost/da...crank_bolt.jpg I decided to pin the crank just as an added safety measure so the pulley would never spin or wobble. Since the crank is forged, this was a major PITA and took over an hour: http://www.dsmstyle.com/photopost/da...ank_pinned.jpg Lastly I decided to convert my car to E85. I installed a boost a pump because I was afraid I would max it out, plus a set of 880cc injectors. Out with old injectors: http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/..._injectors.jpg In with the E85 today! http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...medium/e85.jpg Car is running great so far, has a little trouble idling just because the fuel trims aren't quite right yet, but it cruises fine and will be driving up to Minneapolis on Monday morning to drop it off at the tuner. Really excited to see what kind of numbers it makes. I think the tuner will be doing mostly street tuning for driveability purposes, but I'm going to see if I can do a few dyno pulls later in the week just to see where it's at. I'll have to see if DB has an hour or so free for this. |
Re: 2006 Corvette
Id say shes running rich by the e85 puddle under your exhaust :D

Re: 2006 Corvette
LMAO! After I posted the picture I noticed it looks like I spilled a bunch of gas or something (but the puddle was there before), and I was thinking about this picture you posted a couple years ago:

Re: 2006 Corvette
Haha I was thinking the same thing, but the puddle was obviously there already!
Cool as hell man, I was going to ask what was with the BAP, hopefully you see some decent gains out of the conversion and new parts. Boo on the brakes, but I'm sure you'll get to them sooner or later! |

Very cool.

Re: 2006 Corvette
OMG, can't wait to ride in this thing. Will it be fully tuned and ready to rip for the cruise?

Re: 2006 Corvette
Holy crap I forgot about my awsome Microsoft paint skills!
Sweet, you are making it to the cruise! Quote:

Re: 2006 Corvette
Car is tuned and runs way better now. There was an o2 heater circuit issue but that's fixed and idle after start-up is night and day difference. Got 21mpg on the drive home with a strong headwind which is pretty awesome for E85 in my opinion.
I don't have dyno numbers but I'll try to post up some airflow and IDC numbers in the next few days. Haven't had a chance to go WOT yet, too much crap in the car on the drive home and roads were wet. I have some NT05 tires on the way, hope to install them before I come up for the cruise. |
Re: 2006 Corvette

Re: 2006 Corvette
i like how the mitsu symbol on the caddy looks like 2 little fishies jumping away from a shark fin.
must be that radioactive water under the front of the car |
Re: 2006 Corvette
damn, 21 mpg on e85 is definitely not bad at all!
