I remember splitting the front of my case in half at the shootout, but mine wasn't nearly that bad. You know you're supposed to get out of it when smoke and parts start flying out, don't you? :D

All tuned up! I did a roll on in second gear and spun the tires super bad. I tried again in third and the tires spun a little at 7800 RPM! This was on a flat entrance ramp with the QTP’s on it! It has never spun 3rd gear, ever. The spool is a little slower, from what I can tell about 200 RPM. It makes 40 psi by 6200 RPM from a 3rd roll on. I also raised the rev limiter to 9.5K. It’s been awhile since I drove it so it’s hard to tell from my memory if it’s faster. The only thing I could do is to compare a 3rd gear roll on run from last year. It is 0.45 seconds faster from 6K RPM to 8.5K RPM. With 3 psi less boost too. Hopefully the lazier spool will make for a little less of a violent launch off of the line and save the drive train a little. I’m now 100% excited to see if I can beat my personal best MPH and time, right off of the trailer!

Did your gauges go back in when you hit the brakes? HOly crap.
How fast was that run because the 2g was moving! ALso I didnt know that you run a 2.3, i need to talk to you when I build a motor. Nice run. |

Yes Jim, sleeping at the line, my 9.40 was a .68 reaction time. In the final my reaction was 1.4 lol. I have a lot to improve on with pro trees! This is an easy thing to fix.
So what's next with my talon? Well I might as well make the car faster, so I'm going to put it on a diet and set a goal to remove about 150-200lbs! This should make it much faster. 1. First off I'm going to install the light weight STM brakes up front. Un-sprung weight is king! 2. My father in law has a CNC in his garage and is going to scallop and drill rear OEM rotors. 3. Next MAP helped me source some Flex a Lite Lexan molded glass in the rear of the car. 4. I will also put a new fuel cell in the car, going with a 5 gallon model instead of the 16. I typically race with about 8-10 gallons to avoid cavitation on the deceleration, since the tank is only like 10 inches tall. 5. Fuel Lab fixed and upgraded my fuel pump from the 1500hp to the 1800hp version. 6. I have the new upgraded transfer case on the way. 7. I'm going to gut the front doors, remove the carpet, door panels and center console. 8. Over the winter I will take more extreme measures on weight reduction, but still keep it a street capable car! I’ll take some pics as I go. Should be fun, I will be getting out to the track before the end of the season. Stay tuned! |

What's it made out of? Are you going to get it anodized or anything? If it's aluminum I though e98/e85 would eat through it pretty quick?

What’s cool about this project is that going to the aluminum tank alone shaved off 5.2 pounds and changing the way the tank and pump was mounted eliminated another 8.5 pounds. I will also be running 3-5 gallons less fuel when racing, with the old setup I needed to run 8+ gallons so the pump would not cavitate while slowing down at the strip. Bottom line about a total 40 pound total weight savings! |
