Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

9/7/14:
So feeling inspired (I still am btw for looks and speed) sunday after work (why I missed the eliminations) I decided to take the buffer to the car.
Sadly with a white car this is very hard to illustrate, especially since the pics were taken inside and not outside.

Pre-wax pic, tired of having such a crappy looking car. This is just after a normal wash.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.n...b2576e16adfbde

Close up of the tree sap I was hoping to remove. I forgot to get an after pic, but the clay bar didn't do much anyway. This stuff is all over the passenger side of the car on the hood, fender, and door.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.n...c0c7c53b618f93
Another pre pic, kinda useless since I didn't get many post pics but it helps to show how dull the paint job is.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.n...e5336ed3160867
Another pre-wax pic, sadly it needs some buffer work for it to shine. But look at how non-shiny the paint is and this is after a wash.

https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.n...48bc76d8e9e2c2
https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.n...066a939bdb827e

Trying out the clay bar on her, well destroying a clay bar.
https://scontent-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...16&oe=548F6276

To be honest it didn't appear to make difference, it did feel better though.

Not 100% what is going on here IIRC, the left side is post buffer.
https://scontent-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...a2&oe=549840E8

I only buffed the front fenders, hood and roof before we went out, but the car has not shined like this before, maybe ever in her life. (See other pics for matte white finish)
https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.n...e322da8c987dee

So white is extremely difficult to buff/wax, but what I was going for here was a comparison of the buffer with cutting compound, the front half (left side of pic) of the fender is before and the back (right side of pic) is after. if you look at the edge of the wheelwell you can see it.
https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...4c&oe=5498E1B8

Bam, finally a pic to show the difference. Left is after, right side is before.
I only used a heavy cut (Meguiars 201) then I ran out of time.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.n...4aa4f20dc8d64c

From the front this time, look how much better it is. Next year she won't be looking so rough.

Dynotune Nitrous dry kit, going to be used for stall up only.

For the tree sap, try putting Iso heat on a cotton ball. Let it sit on the tree sap for a min or two and try to get it off the paint with the cotton ball. That has worked well for me in the past. It looks good though!

Yea you will need to use bug and tar remover for all those black specks. I just did that on my car before I waxed over the weekend. Then youll clay bar, to remove any other remnants. The big stuff wont come off in the clay. Looks good tho!

This isn't some random tar shit, this has been on the paint for at least 7 years every year in over 100* heat down in OK.
I tried some rain-x bug and tar, didn't seem to do much do you have a brand or recommendation for some?

That sounds serious!!
I'll give it a whirl though, I have a good friend that wants to try his hand at the car too.

I've had the best luck with using paint thinner or brake cleaner on tree sap. It still takes some elbow grease though.

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

Yea its road grime and bugs that have been baked on. It will take a lot of scrubbing with either what others said or tar remover. Paint thinner would work probably a bit better actually if its really stuck on there. Just keep scrubbin but dont put too much pressure.

Neat, an enema inducer? Or is that a nitrous evaporator? ;)

Had a feeling you would want to put it in your ass. (twss)
It's a NHRA legal blow down tube kit for nitrous so then I can be legal at the track.

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

I've been slacking on this a bit, but to be fair I've had some more important things come up...

Anywho, here it is:

9/22/14:
Track day at RFR to be honest, I felt so pressured for this and so stressed that I really didn't want to go. (I should of listened to my gut).
Well made the trip out with Munchgsx (Ma Nigga) to RFR, way better drive than to BIR.
Finally get out there unload all my stuff.
Get thru tech pretty quick, checks the battery and helmet and that's it.
Line up, attempt to stall and the car takes forever. Flash backs of 2012 track trip where the car broke the WG are creeping back in.
Here is the only slip I could find:
(Car 9035)
https://scontent-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...1e&oe=54C0EDCF

Well, i try again, takes a bit of time to get back up there.
This time is even worse! the car doesn't make any boost at all.
Tune is fine, take the car out on the street and attempt to make it stall there, no dice. We drive back around to RFR and chat how my car hates RFR or vice versa.
Get close to RFR and do a 2nd gear pull, car is laggy as phuck!! :scared:

Must be a boost leak, SD car won't be hurt as much blah blah get back quick check all the pipes by hand, nothing shows.
Nick/Munchgsx says to pull the intake, ding ding ding!!!
Fucking compressor wheel is flopping in there all the fins are bent inwards from touching the housing!! (Yay PTE journal bearing!!)
This turbo never saw over 28psi.
So, I'm like oh well lets go grill some steak, I'm hungry.

Start packing up and my wife's good friend calls me and is like "Did you get Sam's text?" I'm like no i'm racing in WI, i can barely hear you!
BABY IS COMING!!! WTF, i need to go, i start throwing shit in the car real quick. Nick is like are you serious, and I'm like yeah we got to go now baby is coming!

Broseph nuevo is like, take my car, i'm like for real? he is like baby is coming GTFO I got this.
C5 time baby :drive1:

I make it back home in about 50 mins, FFFFUUUCCCKKKK Do i miss slamming gears!! I'm a bit more tame than I use to be so I didn't make the whole drive back at 130mph+ but man I miss having a good/fun street car.

Get home, get my car get to the hospital and no baby, wife isn't even mad!!
I told her, I didn't think I should of left this morning, but she is cool.

10/6/14:

Now I did move the car in the garage a bit and it sounded horrible!
Got the turbo off and the shaft didn't break but damn is it loose, called PTE sat and for an RMA/return number so I'll be shipping it out soon.
https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...0e&oe=54C4242B

Mock-up with the manifold that I wish to run.

10/7/14:

Being honest, I'm not too concerned with this car anymore, after spending a good amount of time in the C5 I really want a fun street car again which means it has to be a manual.
I'm going to get this car running and try not to throw a lot of money at it so I can clear some debt and get a fun street car for next year.

Goals for car over winter:
Get running with T4 HX40 setup.

Other items:
New converter for bigger setup
Honda half radiator
Built motor
Lose weight
Install parts on hand, rear subframe bushings and active toe eliminators.

I'll be finally selling my ported and coated FP manifold that I said I'd never part with, my MAP external O2 housing for mitsu turbos, IPT restalled converter, along with anything else I don't need for the new setup for next year.

Hopefully I don't pull a me and basically have a non-running car again for the first half of the year.

Goals for the new setup?

Trap 135mph
Keep motor in one piece.
Get more sponsors.

which reminds me, I acquired a sponsor in SPA motorsports of IL.

They needed a car to measure out complete brake line replacements and I talked to the owner, we sorted out the agreement and it sounds like a good chance for the both of us.

2015 should be an exciting year. :woohoo1:

That sucks about the turbo! Sounds like you got big plans for it for next year though, can't wait to see what she can do!

sucks about the turbo. I have the same one sitting in a pte box. lasted 500 miles. my buddy gave it to me when pte wanted 500.00 to rebuild it.

also babys are the reason I am not going on the cruise even though aly said I could go. I dont want to be that far away.

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

135! That alot trap with an auto. I hope you try and keep it into third, Ive seen some damage one would not expect using 4th gear.

Also Ive had the transgo shift kit in for some time and Ive checked line pressure and could never exceed 145 psi even with the line shift valve and reducing presure valve at there max. I had to shim the reducing valve and main line pressure valve. Now I got pressure up to 195-200 psi and the transmission feels way more solid.

Could you shine some light on shimming valves?

I've been around/assisting a few autos trapping from 120-145mph, I'm not too worried about my goals just my budget and the Future ton of added maintenance that I now have to do.
