Re: beaterX project thread
I spoke with Tephra about a p0300 disable he doesn't think its necessary on the X's. He feels like it still serves a purpose but who knows. I get it still sometimes and from what I have researched its from the clutch. Essentially it pops up in traffic like conditions or riding the clutch to get moving slightly. Mine is the worst backing into my 3rd stall of my garage, seems to happen there as its a slow process to get it in there snug.
Still sounds like everything is going pretty well though. Let us know how the pump gas works out as I am going to check my valves this summer to see if this is happening to me. |
Re: beaterX project thread
Well after a week down, car is back on the road thanks to Ron@ RS Motors!
Started off by installing my walbro 400 pump: http://www.scheides.com/albums/walbr...0kit.sized.jpg Switched back to e85 and did testing since the weather was so nice and the car just RIPS: http://www.scheides.com/albums/walbr...drilled2mm.jpg I'm *very* excited about having more fuel, the car will at the very least see more boost this year (on the BBX) and I'm hopeful to put a larger snail under the hood if the rest of the car holds together.....That was fun for about a week and then I found a huge puddle on the floor of my garage, a crack in the trans case. Diff pins decided to eject themselves: http://www.scheides.com/albums/evoX/image.sized.jpeg They wore a hole through the case, thus the puddle on my floor: http://www.scheides.com/albums/evoX/image3.sized.jpeg Four new pins from Shep and a few fresh bearings later, the trans was re-assembled. Ron banged this out lickity-split for me and I am very thankful! It would have been much faster if we didn't have to wait for parts but that's the nature of issues like this. All four pins were broke, but luckily all pieces were found and NO damage to the rest of the trans! If I hadn't noticed that puddle that night I think I would be out an extra $3k for a trans, weeks of downtime I'm sure, blah I don't wanna think about that! It shifts like buttah now though so I'm confident that everything is indeed healthy. The car also got a fresh ACT HDG6 clutch as the old one was worn down to the rivets. Last summer at Proving Grounds the clutch was slipping baaaaad at the end of day 1 and I discovered my fork stopper needed to be adjusted to accommodate for plate wear. I think it was too late though, the damage was done. I did get another 6k miles out of it and probably could have gotten another 5-10k of DD but since it was already apart, I made the investment to do it right...I plan on doing more drag and a lot more DD with this thing. Time for more miles and smiles! |
Re: beaterX project thread
Nice! Good thing the trans didn't go boom like you said though.

Re: beaterX project thread
Damn...you had what, barely a year on that clutch? How many miles?
|
Re: beaterX project thread
Glad your back up and running!
|
Re: beaterX project thread
Sweet action! Is that the same clutch you had in there before? Why not go to something beefier?

All in all I'm happy with what I got out of it. Like I said it probably would have made it through the summer so figure almost 30k miles and 40+ launches. Remember, the car makes 600hp and I don't exactly baby it.--this isn't a 200hp honda that I'd expect to get 150k miles out of the stock clutch. Fun fact: check all your options! Turns out MAP had a freshly built Jack's tranny sitting in their shop that I could have put in my car and used mine as a core. Seriously what are the chances of that happening at the exact time that I need one? .5%? Why I didn't call every shop in town IDK...Shane was in hawaii and I just knew Ron could do any trans work in-house so it made the most sense I guess. My apologies to MAP and thank you for the info! |

Damn Scheides, it seems like whenever I check this thread you are experiencing some bad luck!
At least you keep your head up and pull through it like a champ! Keep up the good work bud! :D Edit - This thread is what every 16 year old should be required to read before purchasing a modified turbo car... |
