I vote stock hood.

Re: team ab drag race and street builds

^ I'm not sure your getting it, we are saying the hood will not clear the manifold and also now the half radiator will also not clear the manifold

Mucho parts delivery for my red rocket. Kiggly crank trigger, fluidampr harmonic poop slinger, gates rubber band, competition twin disk, and a bunch of bolts and gaskets u could forget about until you pay for them. So far I'm ready to prime the oil pump and then time the motor, than maybe fab up a timing cover and make sure I have a starter plate that will work. Who knows maybe the weather will cooperate and I'll get to drive it this year. Still undecided on what to do about the turbo. Keep the 3582 the way it is this year or upgrade to a 3586. Hmmmmmm does size matter this year???

Re: team ab drag race and street builds

Nice!

Keep the turbo, just be a waste of time and/or money at this point.
You might run the 3582 and want to go straight to a 3794 or something, size might matter if you feel insecure? lol

Re: team ab drag race and street builds

lol funny post man, but why would this be a waste as fp site says my turbo would go from 62.5 to 75 lb/min. thats 100hp difference.

Re: team ab drag race and street builds

Lol.

Because not everyone maxed turbos. Like I said you might want to go way bigger or something. Plus not like that option will go away so you don't need to do it now. But if you want to and it won't hold your progress up then go ffor it

hey guys I have not been paying attention to this build for the past couple days but the hood I have does clear a lot better than a stock hood I don't know if I would clear a stock hood even but I love the way my hood looks also it looks clean I think

Re: team ab drag race and street builds

i pretty much maxed it out last year so thats why I'm thinking about it. basically I can handle the power just need to make sure I get what is truly needed as in wheels and tires and whatever else.

dsmdolney thanks for the info, andre actually sent out his manifold back to force to have john try and fix it, so if the extra room is needed maybe that style hood is the answer.

Very true about the gaskets, I think the gasket set for my 2.3 build was 225-250 something in that area

Re: team ab drag race and street builds

What kind of power/times were you running with the 3582 last year?

Re: team ab drag race and street builds

^ doesn't get much better than that.

Dsmdolney I took the brake booster, slave master etc out. The wires I took off drivers fender and pulled wires out and hung them out of the way. The wires that go thru the firewall I put in a bag and set on the ground. For the brake lines I pulled all the bolts and taped everything off and just pulled everything away from the firewall.

Haha yes people forget about the expense of gaskets, dowel pins, and bolts, it's the worst too because they add up fast and they are all boring parts to look at

Goodhart I broke my car last year on the launch at pg1, I did run a just getting a feel for it run before that, but it was like a 2.1 or 7 60ft and 3 seconds of shifting 13.25@117 or something.
Pg2 I failed tech for trying to do a battery in the trunk with no shut off switch

Shit i ran 12.2 @ 121 revving to 7500 dont feel bad haha.

I was really concentrating on the R/T didnt care about the actual times. I was just trying to beat the hoe next to me.

Looking good, I like that people are still building dsm's. Think it will be ready for MAP's PG?

What kind of power were you making ? How do you know you were maxing it out ?

Re: team ab drag race and street builds

Well after I realized hood was hitting I ended up sending the mani back to get a new flange installed to hopefully drop it down a bit. On a side not radiator wouldn't fit either way with the manifold so I decided to put it in passenger wheel / bumper area. Had to cut out the radiator support to make it work and tube it out. Turned out pretty good just got everything mounted back up tonight to make sure all the body lines still looked good. Have to weld on some mounts for a couple things and should be ready to be on track to re assemble soon hopefully.

Not sure on pg1 for me cause I will be having a baby right around then but will make it to pg2 for sure.

soooo sick bro. funny how u can see my car under yours. my update is after some troubles with my kingly crank trigger i finally have my motor all put together and new clutch on and trans mated and in its new home.

thanks mark glad you checked this out.

goodhart i made 531 dialed back to 527 @db last year on my 2.4 @30psi. I was under the impression the 3582 was only good for about that as it starts to go way outside the chart.
