Tom doesn't care about that, he only cares b/c it gives him something to bitch about and point the blame finger over nothing while attempting to make McCain look bad.

1) His genealogy is not from the Middle East, Africa is not in the Middle East, last time I checked a map.
2) There's no proof he's a Muslim, and I don't appreciate that statement, being a Muslim myself. Just because I'm a Muslim doesn't mean I should be denied or disrespected if I ran for office. Yea, people think Muslims are terrorists, but that's because we've been given a bad name by some inhumane people, who claim to be Muslims. Frankly, a person's religion doesn't make a difference, and shouldn't make a difference as long as they are capable of doing the job and they don't mix their religion into it.

I respect your opinions and comments; but he just has a few too many questionable things surround him for my taste. I have nothing against you, your skin color, or any religion you choose...the once or twice we met I thought you were a cool dude. I'm not denying or disrespecting Obama (or anyone else for that matter) in any way. As in all elections people are free to voice their opinions and choose the person who they feel best represents them, their opinions, morals, and ideals. I prefer it be someone with a strong political and military background to help get us out of the mess we're already in.

We have obviously gotten different info b/c I have heard he has very little "African American" in him and has openly admitted to being Muslim. Anyway, if McCain is to lose, I think I'd rather it be to Obama than Clinton!

WoW, Chris, I have seen that undertone in your comments, but that is just wrong. Like clean2g, I am also a Muslim. I find it VERY weird that somehow in this election people are/can simply say he might be a Muslim and that somehow automatically eliminates him as a candidate. If you believe all Muslims are terrorists, you are blind to the other 1 BILLION Muslims that are normal God fearing people who are very decent human beings. The fact that you and others try to point at his name, and where his father was from as a negative is truly a sad point in American history. Obama was born in HI.. he is an American, that's it. He also happens to be a Christian, so that should be good enough for all the Americans who do not like Muslims.

This election year is very sad to watch from a Muslim point of view. We now all know what people think of us.

If anyone on this board is convinced that I think any less of them because of skin color or religion then so be it, but I can assure you right now that is not the case. I've known you for a long time Mo and think you're a great guy and have nothing at all against you. I'm free to have my opinions and vote for who I want for the reasons I want. This supposed connection with William Ayers (among many other things) is just a little too questionable for my comfort.

Good to hear, thanks for the clarification.

I dropped out of this thread a while ago because these kinds(political) of conversations never go anywhere, but when Religion(my religion) gets thrown out there as a purely negative thing, I have to honestly say it's offensive.

And like all highly political subjects, it's all propaganda.. going both way's.. It's the biggest game in the world, and whatever will work to change peoples minds is what will be spewed as fact.. when in fact it's all taken out of context and misconstrued(again, on both sides of the game).

Kracka 10-10-2008 12:46 AM

Re: I just want to take a quick poll...

I agree with you regarding this thread Mo...I should have just stayed out of it b/c they do never go anywhere [good] or accomplish anything other than upsetting people! Politics, religion, and race are already very touchy subjects on their own and when combined like this it just becomes a mess b/c everyone has their own strong opinions and its so easy to take what someone says incorrectly (especially on the internet) which leads to even worse things. With all this said, I'm going to bow out of this thread :)

I just respond to get Tom all riled up. :D

I stopped trying long ago, because there's really no point in changing people's minds. I'm not even sure I'm going to vote this year, because really, I don't like either candidate, even though I lean towards one.

The only way to change the economy truly, starts by getting all the corrupt people in charge of the banking system, all corporations, and also the Govt. That will never happen though.

I'm not even voting for McCain, so saying I support him would not be true. I don't want McCain to be president either, but I don't want Obama in office even more so. No matter where I get news from you Obama supporters will always say it's from some anti-Obama source. Is there some secret Obama approved news agency that I should be getting news from? Oh wait, they'd never tell the truth and say something bad about him... You better hope that I won't be saying "I told you so" if he's elected and drives this country further into the ground than it already is.

I disagree with you. I believe Obama is going to be a great leader. I believe he will be a much more active and great leader then McCain ever could be.
No matter what the obama supporters say you will always say that we are voting for him because hes a celebrity or that we get our news from the left, but regardless the majority of the obama supporters (and majority of the country) can figure out the falsehoods that either campaign is spitting and pick the best of the two or at least i would hope.
You call Obama a Celebrity but look at the McCain Campaign, Sarah Palin is the epitomy of a celebrity, shes for the common woman? Yeah right, what common woman spends $150,000 on a wardrobe. GG Now stop calling him a celebrity.
I know the following you will jump all over but who cares these are shows that i trust to give me news.
Real Time with Bill Maher
Countdown with Keith Olbermann
and the Rachel Maddow show.
Nothing on CNN or Fake News (fox news)
I dont get my political opinion and news from Youtube, if you do you really need to rethink your accusations about the media.
The fact that the McCain campaign is using Joe the Plumber (who is unlicensed and was never planning or had the capital to be able to afford the business he was stating he was going to buy, and now has a publicist and manager to jumpstart his country music career) as their mascot is just stupid. Their campaign has done so many sleazy tactics to try and smear baracks name, and this is such a detriment to our government. Calling him a terrorist via robocalls, and basically slandering his name. Thanks for buying into it, Matt, The McCain campaign loves uneducated voters like you.
You also should really check out FactCheck.org before you go on helping spread the Republican Propaganda. Its a website that is not for the left of the right, its for the facts. and debunks both sides campaign materials.

Bill Maher? Seriously? He's a political comedian, not an analyst. He makes a mockery of the political scene and more or less instigates people to say what he wants his viewers to hear.

How is Obama a leader? Illinois is a state of failure. State pension fund $44 Billion in debt, worst in country. Cook County (Chicago) sales tax 10.25% highest in country. Chicago school system one of the worst in country. Remember, can't blame the Republicans in the state, because there are none.

Explain how he's going to fix our country when his very own state is a disaster.

Chicago isn't the only place with that sort of sales tax. I pay 10.5% every day in Minneapolis, granted that's not county-wide, but still just as bad.

Ill go from the bottom up on your quote.
First off, McCain is the chairman of the International Republican Institute which "According to tax returns, the McCain-chaired IRI funded the organization Khalidi founded and served on to the tune of $448,873 in 1998 (click HERE to see the tax return)* as first reported by Seth Couter Walls at HuffPo. " from http://www.nowpublic.com/world/mccai...-plo-spokesman

Im not bashing, just stating that you should check your so called facts before stating they are true.

He has an actual plan that he has told the american people time and time again, instead of McCain stating he has a plan, but not telling anyone about it. Such as his so-called plan to catch Bin Laden, that he has told no one what the plan actually entails. So we are supposed to just believe him? The only plan McCain has is to take every cheap shot at barack that one of his cronies has told him, whether it be true or not.

Bill Maher is a political comedian, but yet he speaks a lot of truth, and sees through the BS that is the McCain Campaign. But does it with comedy, Does that make him bad? No. Everyone has a voice and we get to choose who we want to listen to.

So my congress woman mailed me a letter after I left a message on her website bitching about her changing her vote from against the bailout bill to approving it. She replied saying it was needed, and why it was needed, but didn't explain how it would be paid back which is exactly what my concern was. In turn she sent me a copy of her floor statement to congress about the Act, and an article from Time/CNN about how $2 trillion was lost in retirement plans during the stock market downturn.

Wait... CNN. Tom doesn't trust CNN. This person voted for the economic stimulus plan. Obama and McCain both voted for it as well. I'll be damned if I'm not going to trust any one of them, because Tom doesn't trust the media source that my very own congresswoman shared a news story from.

and Fox news is fake news why? because their not one-sided to Obama?

CBS news has spent 1.2 million dollars on Obama's campaign, while only 222 thousand on McCains.

Fox news has spent just over 400k on Obama's campaign, and just under 400k on McCains campaign.

The total for all the big media spending money on Obama Vs. McCain campaigns is double for Obama, then what it is for mcCain. Because he is, in fact, a celebrity.

They are trying to back the independent party and try to gain more support. This was questioned several times a couple pages ago.

Matt, if you look at your posts on this thread, you are only posting anti-obama. It sure seems like you are backing McCain....

I like how it is brought up "how are we going to pay for these plans." Niether of the two are going to be able to do what they want. There is no way McCain can cut everyones taxes, fix economic problems, and come close to balancing the budget.

In looking at the canidates plans, Obama seems to have better solutions and a more feasable plan. When people read their plans, they have to realize that they are not always going to happen, the president isn't in total control. Yea, it would be great to reduce taxes, fix the economy, end the war and balance the budget but it is not realisitic. We have to prioritize.

On another note, when they talked about Joe the plumber, I do not know how they can call a business with $250k of taxable income a "small business." I have not worked with a client who owns a similar size business who isn't totally loaded. The owner usually has a salary of a couple hundred thousand (which is a deductable expense in arriving at $250k) and has more cash than they can spend. McCain is trying to make it seem like this guy is one of us and that he cannot afford more taxes.

Either way, this will all be over tomorrow. Nobody is going to be persuaded anymore. I just hope that everyone is able to vote without any problems. Go Obama!
