Re: Will my fricken' luck ever change?
I've always used 10/30 and run my feed from the stock location to my PTE.. it's been many years now..

I couldn't resist! I run 10/30 synthetic also and change it pretty often. I also run unrestricted from the oil filter housing. My car has always had pretty low oil pressure though for some reason. |

LOL truf! Come on the cruise with us and stretch the legs of that thing! |
Re: Will my fricken' luck ever change?
I think your car needs better valve springs or shims if they are even Crower spring/retainers, valve float ftl.

Re: Will my fricken' luck ever change?
Yea, I was going to talk to you john about that..ideas? And, am I able to do it in the car? I need this done soon, and so I can start testing some crap. I also cannot find ANYONE with a bypass plug for the MSD dis-4, to test if that's an issue or not.

But yeah, it's been probably thousands of miles overall on that turbo. Quote:

Re: Will my fricken' luck ever change?
E77 right now..we tested my gas on the dyno.
Anyone think I should/shoudn't run that red FP oil filter/restrictor thingy? again, my turbo is run off the oil filter housing, no BS, and idle oil psi was just below 50, and cruising it's around 75..eek. -A. Swift |
Re: Will my fricken' luck ever change?
I probably would, but I can't say for sure if it's right for your setup or not(seems right though).
|
Re: Will my fricken' luck ever change?
Crap. I need help in that area. I don't wanna blow it again.

Re: Will my fricken' luck ever change?
I would say run it. With those kind of pressures it definitely can't hurt anything.
|
Re: Will my fricken' luck ever change?
Swifty, you should do whatever the manufacture of the turbo says; they usually have their certain specs for a reason. Just because others say they can run with or without something doesn't mean it will work on your setup. You might have higher oil pressure than normal, who knows. It's not worth killing another turbo.
Are you buying a new turbo or getting yours rebuilt? |

Re: Will my fricken' luck ever change?
PTE sells the thread in oil feed restrictor, just but that it has to be cheep. I have the stuff to make a by pass plug here at the house, now that I saw one at work. You can change/shim your springs with the head on the car, you just need a good air compressor and a little time.

Re: Will my fricken' luck ever change?
I need that done john..but I want this revving thing fricken fixed! I'm tired of guessing/checking lol.
I dropped the turbo off at MAP for bob to fix, along with a new coat of chrome for the manifold. I was thinking restrictor, but I dunno. Oil PSI is like 50 at idle, and 75 driving. I think it needs a restrictor. I may jsut skip that filter though, and run some kinda restrictor. I can't figure it out yet. I get mixed answers from EVERYONE! -A. Swift |

Something like this that threads into the turbo. |
Re: Will my fricken' luck ever change?
My problem, is what if I starv the turbo too much? Would that also do the same damn thing? Should I change my oil back to 10w30? I dunno what to do.

Re: Will my fricken' luck ever change?
Call PTE and ask what they'd suggest.

Re: Will my fricken' luck ever change?
I did, and I got a run-around. Then, he suggested I run a BB turbo setup, since I got no balance shafts. Frankly, I'm sick of dealing with them at all, hence why I didn't ship the turbo to them to get rebuilt. I'll prolly save my pennies and do an HTA setup over winter in a t3 setup. ARG!
