ha, no. Never met the guy. Bought an oil line kit from him in like 2002... and had a sticker sitting around :)

You know the lights have to be removed for Road America, right? We are confident in our car, not like we're racing for millions of dollars to warrant an engine swap at the track.

Our car made it to Jeff the Alignment Guy this morning only to find out it had a bad left front tie rod end and a bad right rear ball joint. We sourced the parts during the day, Shawn picked them up this afternoon, brought the car back and fixed it up tonight. It'll head back to Jeff on Wednesday. Patched up a couple other minor things but it's pretty much ready to go.

Yeah, lights come off quick with 2 big arse bolts, but we've had them on for some night/early morning driving we've had to do, and testing and whatnot.

For us, the spare engine isn't so much about winning (cause you definitely can't win after being out of the race long enough to swap the engine). We just want to maximize fun and driving time! And this year we've actually tested our spare engine.

Man, I wish I was going. Good luck to all you guys and be safe. I have to get into this sooner then later.

Removing and installing an engine in an MR2 is not fun.

Just enough time for a B18C5 swap.

The email all the teams were sent this afternoon:
Quote:

To: Road America Team Captains, Volunteers and Vendors

I sincerely regret to inform you that we will have to reschedule this weekend’s event due to weather. Road America notified ChumpCar today that weather conditions worsened unexpectedly overnight and left everything covered in ice. The concern now is that even after clearing, the forecasted highs have dropped to well below freezing and another chance of snow was inserted for Saturday. The result is that Road America management does not want to risk what could be poor track and paddock conditions that could become impossible to mitigate before and during the weekend, as even the melted ice would re-freeze. If it were just snow or the forecast temps stayed above freezing it would be a different story, but just too many things have come together since yesterday that make it too risky and we’d rather make the call now than to have people show up and not be able to get on the track.

ChumpCar shares those concerns, the one thing we value above friends and low cost, no hassle endurance racing is safety. Not just at the track, but traveling to the track, as well as the safety of family, crew and spectators while there.

I apologize for the late notice especially in light of ChumpCar’s insistence that we would not let weather get in the way. We and the track Management held out until the very last minute to make sure we made the right call, and could still get the news to you in time to re-arrange schedules.

The good news is that you will not have to wait long to get on the track. RA has cleared April 2-3 for us, which is next weekend. The weather forecast is for a warming trend with highs in the mid-40s next week which gives the track time to recover. With a little luck we will have highs in the 50’s again by next weekend.

Again, we apologize. Having already made travel reservations, secured vendors and shipped our entire race package up to WI, we understand the inconveience and can empathize with you! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks,
Joey Todd

They should go to whatever email address is used by whoever signs the team up for the event.

Random question: what is the cheapest/crappiest FWD shell you can easily swap a 4G63 into? We should do a mitsustyle collaborative chumpcar next year. That'd rock.

Re: My ChumpCar experience

We just cut up a TOTALLY stripped, caged, sheetmetalled, lexaned 1G FWD shell with a sawzall and threw it in the dumpster a few months ago.

Here is a vid of a 24 Hours of Lemons FWD Mirage with a 4G63 NT in it:

I don't know anything about nitrous...thought it was more flammable than that.

Nitrous oxide is an oxidizer, it is not flammable.

Nah, you can hold a lighter at the end of a nitrous bottle while you're spraying and it wouldn't ignite. Not recommending that someone try this, just sayin haha
