Re: Proving Grounds 2012
Well I should be there with the race car. If I can get a dog box in the car by then it should put on a good show.

Re: Proving Grounds 2012
Heh, well. Won't be anywhere near stock appearing by the time this rolls around anyhow. Still going to see if my Dad has any interest in bringing my car up there for it.
Might need a good driver to take my car for a run or two down the strip if he does. I'll be out of the country until 2 weeks or so after Proving Grounds =/ |
Re: Proving Grounds 2012
I just read the last page of Brads thread and thought the question here was better. So can you run a 16g on a 2g? stock is t-25 which means a t-28 is our only option to be an upgrade. Just wondering cause Ill throw a 16G on my 2.4 and call it a day. LOL
|
Re: Proving Grounds 2012
We are trying to figure out what is fair between us (I think) and waiting to see what MAP says.
Basically I think its stock appearing for the engine bay so stock manifolds and say TD05/16G style looking turbos should work. |
Re: Proving Grounds 2012
You have to think about all the other possible cars too, it isn't the DSM Shootout.

Re: Proving Grounds 2012
I guess I was just wondering, stock appearing 1G obviously is diffrent than a 2G. So if us 2G guys can run a tdo5/16G that would help out a little.

Re: Proving Grounds 2012
From my understanding a couple years ago was that all it had to have was stock exhaust/intake manifold.
So from my understanding I could run some crazy turbo as long as it was bolted to a stock exhaust manifold with a heat shield. MAP guys, any idea when you might create the rules? |
Re: Proving Grounds 2012
what? hmm bolton 67mm time!!!
|
Re: Proving Grounds 2012
Yeah I'd like to see some rules too. Their not as strict as buschnuts are they? I found a few evos and I really dont need to sell all my parts ;)
|
Re: Proving Grounds 2012
I don't have an ETA on when we'll be able to set the rules in stock, but I know you guys are trying to plan around it so I'll do my best. In regards to what will fly and what won't I don't see any MHI turbo being an issue, its the E cover or larger T3 based stuff that should probably be classed separately, do you agree?
|
Re: Proving Grounds 2012
That sounds like a good rule to me.
|
Re: Proving Grounds 2012
Yarp. Base it around the actual flange on the turbo IMHO, it's not like any of the 3" inlet stock-frame turbos are literally "stock appearing" anyways...yes they are close but not in the truest sense of the term. External WG's, tubular manifolds, whatever...as long as it has a mitsu twin-scroll housing on it, let it fly. Maybe make the inlet restriction 3" or something?
Or just have a panel of random girls (in bikinis of course!) standing there and ask them, does it look stock or not? And depending on how they vote, that is the class you are in! |

I don't know about tubular exhaust manifolds, apparently there is a guy with a FFM and a S366, but he is going to put on a 68hta to try and rock the stock class. |
Re: Proving Grounds 2012
Base it on the flange? Lol.
|
Re: Proving Grounds 2012
This is getting rediclous. Might as well just base classes on inducer size. There is no way to make this even between different makes and models.
EX: class 1 1 power adder up to X inducer / X NOS jet size, full interior, full exhaust, radial tire. class 2 1 power adder up to Y inducer / Y NOS jet size outlaw unlimited power adders unlimited wheel/ tire combo |
