Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!

The Solo rulebook has everything you'll ever need to know. Just remember, if it doesn't explicitly allow it, it's not allowed: http://scca.com/documents/Solo_Rules...Solo_Rules.pdf

If the car came from factory with a non-ABS option, I as far as I know even stock class could get away with the ABS delete. However, I'm under the impression that all 2G AWDs came with ABS standard, so you may want to look into that, as I believe trim level plays into it. If you want a definite answer, post a thread in the rules section on the MAC forums. Someone there'll know for sure.

Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!

I had a blast at valley fair last weekend. I placed 2nd in SI for the forth time, I guess i'm destined to be a loser..haha. My car drove amazing, it was the first time I autoXed it with my new coilovers. They helped the chassis out alot. On the way home I noticed I was only running 12 pounds of boost, and I have no idea when it started doing that. Thats a bummer cause I only missed first by .050 of a second, full boost could have gotten me that win.

I will be at the July 5th DCTC event for sure.

What happened to Matt D....Do you still AutoX???

here are a few pics I scored...

for some reason i really like this pic, the old guy driving it is really cool.

Thanks for the pic! After only hitting one cone all day my painters' tape seems to be a bit excessive ;)

The expression on your face is pretty priceless. Not something you normally see on course, lol.

Here're my shots from M2 on Sunday: http://www.flickr.com/photos/2984354...7617620791717/ That's all I felt were postable out of 2000, but hey, it's certainly a better ratio than the last event I shot.

I am kinda curious what I am doing. At least it looks like I am having fun!

It's called looking ahead. Looking where you want the car to be (in 50-150+ feet) instead of what the car is currently pointed at. A good thing to be doing.

I got a spot for Sunday's Test & Tune event at DCTC! They opened up 10 more this morning so act fast and register if you're interested.

Argh, I was planning on taking Emily's car since the event was full. Now I want to autocross but she made plans with her mom on Sunday.

They posted the official times from last weekend in Iowa. The A-stock s2000 with hoosiers dominated the stock classes. They didn't have a street tire class.

Anyone else besides Janelle and I going to the test & tune at DCTC tomorrow?

Kracka 05-10-2009 05:35 PM

Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!

Autocross was awesome today! I absolutely love the test & tune events :D Pretty much unlimited runs, 2 courses going at once, and less course working...that combo can't be beat. Janelle came along with me in the morning and did 4 ride-alongs (some of which with her eyes closed). She didn't much care for taking rides, but she did say she wants to give driving, or at least the novice school, a try sometime.

s1ngletracker 05-10-2009 10:39 PM

Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!

how many runs do you think you got total? That sounds pretty sweet.

MustGoFaster 05-10-2009 11:20 PM

Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!

AS many as you want! The most I have heard of anybody doing is 47 runs. After that, you just get bored an stop, even with trading cars. To put that in perspective, a full year of AX runs is 54 (9 events, 6 runs each) In the morning, the lines can be a little long. But in the afternoon, there were a number of time where, as people pulled up to the line I told them "go when ready" (I was the starter for one course)

I did 11 runs. 8 to learn a new car and R comps. 3 in an STS Miata. I tried to find some other cars to drive, but felt a little uncomfortable going up to people I didn't know and asking to drive their car, so I didn't ask a ton of people.

Kracka 05-11-2009 06:31 AM

Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!

I did 15 runs and figured that was enough since I want these tires to last me through the summer.

Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!

Who's going this weekend? I'll be there, once again with my shitty tires. You'll probably hear me a mile away squealing :)

Is it a COM event this weekend? I don't see MAC having anything scheduled.

Yeah, PCA/COM at Dakota Tech

I'll be there driving the EBS.

I'll be working, not like I would have passed tech anyway. I was just curious.

Hrm... great, alarm didn't go off. I'm assuming if i went and showed up after tech inspection and sign in is over, they'd just turn me away.

Was a good time. I got 2nd in XP, Steve (the car owner) beat me by .12x seconds. But still a very fun day!

I gotta say, rallyx is almost as fun as autox. Tried it out today, had a great time. Definitely made up for my oversleeping blunder :(

You say almost, so I'm guessing you don't have as big of a soft spot for sideways as I do.

Anyway, here's proof:

I'd say more fun, but I had a damned time trying to get my understeering biotch sideways!

Got some snow tires, next event its game on!

Turn in earlier, and more goey foot!

I found out last night that my co-worker likes working Sundays, so after I'm trained, I won't be. Party on, Garth!

I need a 1G already.

That looks awesome, too bad i'm not stock anymore or i'd totally do these races.

Tried that. The only way I could get it to kick out was braking while i was turning.

Dan,
That shouldn't stop you from racing. I was racing in PA (Prepared AWD) which is modified AWD cars... even though my only mod was a hacked aircan (Thanks to you that will be fixed soon...) And actually the average PA time was about the same as the average SA (stock AWD) time. Although depending on your mods you could be bumped up into m4 (from what I understand, anything goes AWD cars). But really, its just to have fun. So who cares what class you're in or how fast you are. Just do it!

http://www.scca-lol.org/

It would be cool to see more DSMs out there. I was outnumbered by subarus.

cmspaz 05-27-2009 01:01 PM

Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!

I have a feeling we'll always be outnumbered by Scoobys, no matter how many of us show up.

I do encourage anyone who's interested to at least come and spectate one of these events.

Sweet, I'll have to see what I fit into. Once I get my car tuned a bit, I'll take it out for a run.

Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!

So I will be an M4 car for sure, I will have to see when the next one is, and get my car ready. As well as me and some buddies are planning on doing some scca road races in their dd's..lol

Do it! Its a ton of fun, you don't have to win. Its mostly driver anyway.

Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!

All would need to do for prep is toss a new intake on, and swap my fpr's (think mine is faulty) and I should be good to go. Lmk paul when the next one is going on, maybe I'll tag along.

Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!

There is a test and tune event at DCTC on August 29th. This is a members only event, you have to be a MAC member in order to sign up. The good thing about it is that since there is no competition going on you can have passengers along. I'm inviting anyone here that would like to see what autocross is all about to bring a helmet and come on out and ride along with me for a couple runs. You can gladly ask to ride along in any of the other cars there as well, most everyone is willing to let new people ride along so they can experience different cars. Will be starting around 10:00am and will hopefully be done before 5:00pm.

Kracka 08-10-2009 04:46 PM

Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!

My passenger seat is open for rides too.

If I get that bearing taken care of, mine will be as well.

asshanson 08-10-2009 05:25 PM

Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!

I think I'm free that weekend, I'd like to go watch and have a few rides. Can you also drive other people's cars, as long as you're the driver?
